Description

GENERAL TOOL SPECIFICATIONS / CHARACTERISTICS Wrenches, sockets, ratchets and pliers:  Meet or exceed ASME standards B107.100-2010.  Hand tools have nickel-chrome plating (Zinc finish on Allen wrenches and safety wire pliers).  Ratchets have a sealed head design, constructed to seal in permanent lubrication and seal out dust, dirt, moisture and other contaminants.  Sockets have double chamfer at both the drive and wrench openings as well as four grooved detents that allows secure attachment to the socket.  Socket extensions have knurled surface at drive end and a double chamfer design at both ends.  80 tooth design for 3/8 and 1/2-inch drive ratchets; 72 tooth for 1/4-inch drive and dual pawl mechanism for all.  Wrenches have 7.5° offset broaching.  Wrenches, sockets and nut drivers have a Flank-drive style design.  Compact durable index with individual holes for Allen Wrench Sets (metric and standard) w/ retention mechanism to prevent wrenches from falling out. The size of the applicable wrench is printed on the case.  Adjustable wrenches, pliers & side cutters have highly visible elastomer cushion grips to prevent hand slippage.  Sockets and wrench box ends have smallest outside diameter possible to provide clearance in limited access situations.  All torque wrenches are on the AFMETCAL listing of test equipment that the Government PMEL can calibrate. Screwdrivers:  Wide tri-lobe design in the center of the handle and Snap-on® bolstered, special alloy steel blade supply turning power when needed.  Tip identifier on the crown helps to quickly identify the needed tool.  Handles have a highly visible color for quick location of tool.  Soft grip handles provide increased comfort and control with a rounded crown (not fluted) while resisting most shop solvents.  Nickel/chrome-plating helps protect against corrosion and promotes easy clean up.  Soft grip handle provides maximum turning power and greater comfort.  Precision cut and vapor-blasted tips for the best possible grip and help prevent chrome plating from peeling.  Replaceable blades, cold forged from high carbon alloy steel and heat treated for optimum strength and durability.  Hexagon bolster prevents blade from being forced into handle and provides wrench assisted turning. Hammers:  Plastic face has ribbed, textured grip with energy absorbing microcellular to material enhance comfort and reduces vibration.  Handles have chemical resistant urethane covering and multi-position hand grip to allow user to "choke up" in tighter work areas.  All have wide flare at end of handle helps prevent slipping. Punches and Chisels  Anvil end on heads of punches and chisels are machined to a modified parabolic curve to control mushrooming and reduce chipping.  Machined and differentially heat treated for optimum performance.  The hardness of the striking head is reduced to reduce mushrooming. -- 1 of 3 -- Prybars:  Blades have a precision-ground edge, with angled design for maximum leverage while lifting and pulling on bar.  Manufactured from special alloy steel, precision forged and heat treated for optimum strength.  Industrial finish to help to protect against corrosion.  Have ergonomic handle with tapered design for comfortable grip.  Blades extend through the handles and contact the metal end caps to provide a continuous, solid, striking force.  Have flared end on handles to offer protection from off-center handle strikes. Tool Boxes:  Toolboxes have 14-gauge steel super-duty skid support systems.  Toolboxes have 16-gauge steel on top, bottom, sides and back.  Toolboxes have 4 corner gussets each.  Casters are heavy duty with a weight capacity of 1700 pounds.  Standing Seams create full perimeter support to strengthen top of box.  Heavy-duty drawer slides support up to 227 lb per set.  Toolboxes have Lock 'N Roll® System to prevent drawers from drifting open when the unit is moved Etching:  Each individual tool, and tool cases for small tools, will have laser etching of the Worldwide Identification (WWID) which will be supplied by the customer.  Markings are clear and readable and will not affect the function of the tool and will not cause corrosion problems.  Etching will not be applied to the shafts of screwdrivers, calibrated measuring surfaces, and impact surfaces.  Etching will not adversely affect the chrome plating on plated tools. Etching will not be provided on items listed as “customer furnished” or “customer supplied tools”.  Etching on handling surfaces will not present an injury hazard to the hand.  Safety glasses and goggles will not be etched in the “viewing area”. Tool Box Foam Specifications & Characteristics BASE LAYER BACKER MATERIAL Physical Characteristics:  Hard Back  Polyethylene 75-99%, proprietary additives 01-25%  Thickness: 1/8”  Colors: RED  Density: Minimum 60 lb. CHEMICAL REISTANCE CHARACTERISTICS:  Tested in accordance with ASTM D543-2000 MACHINING CAPABILITY:  Backer material can be router cut; water jet cut or die cut and maintain the physical properties required to adequately meet varying retention requirements of different customers.  Backer material provides the capability to incorporate identification numbers in the silhouette pockets as required. TOP LAYER FOAM PRODUCTS PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS:  Cross-linked polyethylene, skinned top and bottom  Thickness: 1/8”-4” (determined by what is required to hold tool securely in its cut-out location, no less than ½”)  Colors: BLACK  Density: 4 lb. -- 2 of 3 -- TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS: 3 lb/ft  Nominal Density (PCF): 3  Tensile Strength (PSI): 70  Elongation (% to break): 150  Tear Resistance (lb/in): 17  Compression Strength (PSI)  (25% deflection): 12  Compression Set  (% of original thickness): 18  Thermal Stability  (% of chg @ 158 degrees for 24 hrs): <.6  Working Temperature Range -70 degrees F to 175 degrees F  Water Absorption (lb/ft2/degree F) : <.05  Melting Point 219degreesF-280d
