Title: Oligo Pro II System
SECTION 1 – BACKGROUND
The Biotechnology Core Facility Branch (BCFB) within the Division of Core Laboratory and Scientific Resources (DCLSR) is a service core for CDC researchers. The mission of the DNA section under BCFB is to provide quick analytical analysis for the synthetic oligonucleotides manufactured inhouse for all CDC researchers to be used for outbreak investigations, research and production of FDA approved large scale kits for LRN and other PCR assays. There is one Agilent Oligo Pro II system that is used for analytical analysis of the inhouse synthesized DNA. The DNA team synthesizes and analyzes about 8,000 oligonucleotides manufactured annually. All 8,000 of these oligonucleotides are analytically analyzed on the Agilent Oligo Pro II System for Quality Control. In order to provide this service to CDC researchers and to comply with the requirements of the Quality Management System (QMS), the instruments must be under maintenance agreements to ensure annual PMs by trained engineers and repair using original manufacturer’s parts as soon as the instruments are down.
