SUMMARY OF WORK
PART 1. GENERAL
1.1. WORK COVERED BY CONTRACT DOCUMENTS
1.1.1. The work included in this project consists of furnishing all plant, labor, materials, and
equipment required to accomplish the project in strict accordance with these Specifications and
the Drawings. The principal items of work include, but are not limited to:
1.1.1.1. Demolition and Removal; work locations shall be as shown on the Drawings.
Perform such work required at each location with due care, including shoring, bracing, and so
on.
1.1.1.2. Manufactured Articles, Materials, and Equipment; shall be applied, installed,
connected, erected, used, cleaned, and conditioned as directed by the respective
manufacturers, unless otherwise specified.
1.2. WORK RESTRICTIONS
1.2.1. Access to Site
1.2.1.1. Location of the work to be performed is at the 179 Cyberspace Wing, Ohio Air
National Guard Base, 1947 Harrington Memorial Road, Mansfield, Ohio 44903-8049, Building
#414. See attached Site Plan for the location of the existing site where the work locations are
to take place at and for the other various areas on base pertinent to the job.
1.2.2. Coordination with Site Occupants
1.2.2.1. Work Schedule; shall be performed Monday through Friday, excluding Federal
Holidays, unless otherwise directed or permitted by the Contracting Officer. Work shall be
performed from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM, unless otherwise directed or permitted by the Contracting
Officer.
1.3. OCCUPANCY OF PREMISES
1.3.1. Surrounding building(s) will be occupied during performance of work under this Contract.
Before work is started, arrange with the Contracting Officer a sequence of procedure, means of
access, space for storage of materials and equipment, and use of approaches, corridors, and
stairways.
1.3.2. Contractor Use of Site
1.3.2.1. During the construction period, Contractor shall have full use of the premises
within the project limits as shown on the Drawings for execution of the work. Use of premises
is limited only by Owner’s right to perform duties and functions as stated in the GENERAL
CONDITIONS and in this section.
1.3.2.2. The Contractor, before starting any work relating to existing utilities (electrical,
sewer, water, heat, gas, fire lines, etc.) that will temporarily discontinue or disrupt service to
the existing facilities, will notify the Contracting Officer's Representative 72 hours in advance
and obtain approval in writing before proceeding with this phase of the work.

1.4.1. Remove or alter existing work in such a manner as to prevent injury or damage to any
portions of the existing work which remain.
1.4.2. Repair or replace portions of existing work which have been altered during construction
operations to match existing or adjoining work, as approved by the Contracting Officer. At the
completion of operations, existing work must be in a condition equal to or better than that which
existed before new work started.
1.5. GOVERNMENT FURNISHED MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT:
1.5.1. The Government will furnish the following materials and equipment for installation by the
Contractor:

PART 1. GENERAL (SUBSTITUTION PROCEDURES)
1.1. PRODUCT SUBSTITUTION PROCEDURES
1.1.1. This Section includes administrative and procedural requirements for handling requests
for substitutions made after award of the Contract. No substitutions will be evaluated during
bidding.
1.1.2. Acceptable manufacturers listed in the Contract Documents are not intended to exclude
manufacturers not listed. Products of equal performance will be considered.
1.1.3. Related work specified elsewhere in these Contract Documents:
1.1.3.1. Requirements for submitting Contractor’s Construction Progress schedule and the
Submittal schedule: SECTION 01 33 00.
1.1.3.2. Requirements governing Contractor’s selection of products: SECTION 01 60 00.
1.1.4. Definitions: Substitutions are changes in products, materials, equipment, and methods of
construction required by the Contract Documents proposed by the Contractor after award of the
Contract are considered to be requests for substitutions.
1.1.4.1. The following are not considered to be requests for substitutions; revisions to the
Contract Documents requested by Owner or Engineer, and specified options of products and
construction methods included in the Contract Documents.
1.1.5. Substitution of products will be considered after award of contract only under one of the
following conditions:
