Ordering Data : SAE J1993 HIGH-CARBON CAST-STEEL GRIT dated September 1996 (R 2019). GRIT SIZING UNDER THIS SPECIFICATION SHALL CONFORM TO SAE J444 CAST SHOT AND GRIT SIZE SPECIFICATIONS FOR CLEANING AND PEENING dated JUNE 2023. A. Type, Class, and Grade required: G50 PER SAE J444. B. Hardness: HCS G(1)L – HARDNESS RANGE SHALL BE 54 TO 61 HRC. C. DURABILITY: PER SSPC AB3 SEC 5.2.4. D. PACKAGING AND PACKING REQUIREMENTS: STEEL DRUMS INSIDE AND OUTSIDE ARE REQUIRED TO BE POLY-LINED AND SEALED. PALLETS ARE REQUIRED TO BE POLY COVERED. E. NEW MANUFACTURED GRIT ONLY. RECYCLED GRIT NOT ACCEPTABLE. F. QUANTITY: 400 DR. Additional Data Requirements: a. ASTM B215 METHOD B WILL NOT BE USED TO DRAW SAMPLES FOR TESTING. KEYSTONE SAMPLERS AND SAMPLE SPLITTERS WILL NOT BE USED. A REPRESENTATIVE SAMPLE WILL BE DRAWN FROM DRUMS PER THE FOLLOWING SAMPLE SCHEDULE. Lot Size Sample Size 2 to 15 drums 2 16 to 25 drums 3 26 to 90 drums 5 91 to 150 drums 8 151 to 280 drums 13 281 to 500 drums 20 -- 1 of 2 -- MATERIAL ORDERING DATA SAE J1993 501 to 1,200 drums 32 1201 to 3,200 drums 50 3201 to 10,000 drums 80 b. For hardness testing, a minimum of ten particles will be tested from each sample per SAE J1993 paragraph 10.4 and ASTM E 384. Three hardness readings will be taken on each particle. Ninety percent of the hardness readings for each sample shall be within the specified range. c. The samples will be tested for conformance to other chemical and physical properties as defined in SAE J1993. d. If one sample fails, the entire order shall fail and all batches delivered as part of that order shall be rejected. Sampling and testing of each batch delivered shall not be required. *** FOR PSNS ONLY *** IAC’s [01], [06].
