The NPU and SBGS counternarcotics investigative bodies focus on dismantling the most prolific transnational drug organizations, specifically those engaged in the production of synthetics and other substances most likely to impact Americans. The requirement is to provide direct support to disrupt TCO drug trafficking network. The NPU Counternarcotics Department, Migration Police Department, and SBGS Investigative Activities Department have requested INL assistance with the procurement of new equipment that will significantly enhance their investigative capacity to dismantle drug trafficking and combat organized crime. DEA participated in a multi-month organizational assessment of CND and IAD and identified the lack of modern surreptitious entry equipment as a critical shortfall in both CND and IAD, due to their limited ability to install judicially-authorized electronic surveillance equipment inside automobiles, residences, and businesses used by criminal enterprise in furtherance of illicit trafficking activities. The use of judicially-authorized intrusion devices is essential for collecting evidence of criminal activity, identifying co-conspirators, and exploiting the broader operations of illicit criminal networks.
