PART 1 GENERAL
1.1 PROJECT INFORMATION

B. Project Summary Description. The Work of this Contract is defined by the Contract Documents and
generally consists of, but is not limited to, the following:
1. The documents define general work necessary to accommodate upgrades to the steam condensate
return system and the electrical distribution system. Coordinate schedule, routing, shutdowns,
temporary power, deliveries, trash enclosure location, and all other logistics necessary to complete
upgrades amongst the trades, with the existing conditions and with the COR.
2. Animal bumping and machine collisions have caused damage to structural support columns. Repair
damaged structural support columns per the Bid Documents. Add additional tube steel support
columns at the overhand to limit the deflection in the support beam.
3. Provide operations and maintenance manuals, record documents, testing, warranty and all closeout
documentation.
4. Reference also the Project Description, Sheet G000 for additional information.
C. Architect/Engineer: The term Architect/Engineer refers to the project designer. The
Architect/Engineer's status relative to the construction will be stated in writing by the Contracting
Officer prior to the pre-construction conference. The project was managed by:

1.2 MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS
A. Work in existing facilities shall correspond in all respects with the existing conditions to which it
connects, or to similar existing conditions, in materials, workmanship and finish unless noted
otherwise.
B. Alterations to Existing Conditions: Existing conditions shall be cut, drilled, removed, temporarily
removed, or removed and replaced, as necessary for performance of Work under the Contract and in
conformance with Health and Safety requirements outlined in section 01 59 50 - Safety and Health.
Work out of alignment where exposed by removal of existing work shall be called to the attention of
USDA. Necessary corrective work shall be as directed.
1. Replacements of existing conditions that are removed shall match similar existing conditions.
2. Unless otherwise indicated, existing structural members shall not be cut or altered without
authorization by the Contracting Officer.
3. Adjacent work remaining in place, which are damaged or defaced during the Work, shall be
restored to the condition existing at time of award of Contract to the satisfaction of the
Government.
C. Existing structures will remain in place.
D. Removed items indicated to remain the property of the Government shall be stored in the building
where directed by the Contracting Officer
E. Existing utility services with related meters and equipment will remain in place.

PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1 CONTRACTOR USE OF PREMISES
A. The Contractor will review and document the existing conditions surrounding the project premises.
Provide documentation to USDA-ARS prior to the commencement of any construction activity.
B. The Contractor shall limit use of the premises to the work in areas indicated, and to allow for
Government occupancy and public use.
1. Confine operations at the site to areas indicated in plans. Do not disturb portions of the
site beyond the areas in which Work is indicated.
