Description

Work Package B – Pilot House Navigation & Systems B.1 Purpose To inspect, refurbish, and upgrade the pilot house navigation and operator systems to ensure full operational capability, safety, and compliance with current marine standards. This includes replacement of outdated components, installation of modern navigation electronics, and integration of USCG-compliant safety equipment. B.2 Scope of Work B.2.1 Gauges, Meters, Switches, and Lighting Evaluate and test all existing engine gauges including: Tachometers, oil pressure, coolant temperature, voltmeters, and fuel level indicators. Replace or refurbish any non-functional or outdated gauges with marine-rated, ignition-protected units. Replace pilot house electrical switches with marine-rated toggle or rocker switches as necessary. Install new marine-grade indicator lights for: Engine alarms, navigation status, and system alerts. Test all circuits, fuses, and breakers; repair or replace any deficiencies. B.2.2 Operator Console Refurbishment Remove deteriorated console panels and replace with marine-grade composite or aluminum panels. Inspect and replace fasteners, gaskets, and weatherproofing seals around: Windows, doorframes, searchlight mounts, antennas, and electrical penetrations. B.2.3 Navigation Electronics Supply and install one (1) Garmin (brand name or equal) GPS chartplotter with integrated depth sounder/fishfinder capability. Mount transducer per manufacturer guidelines and route cabling through watertight glands. Load the latest U.S. inland and coastal waterway electronic charts specific to Lake Roosevelt. Configure system for vessel-specific parameters including: Length, draft, speed alarms, and waypoint routing. Provide onboard orientation and operational training for NPS personnel. B.2.4 Marine-Grade Insulation Remove degraded insulation from the pilot house and engine bay bulkhead areas. Install new thermal and acoustic marine insulation panels that are: Flame-retardant, moisture-resistant, and securely adhered. Ensure insulation is sealed at all edges and penetrations to prevent moisture ingress. B.2.5 Safety Equipment Install USCG-approved portable fire extinguishers appropriate for vessel class and compartment size. Verify accessibility and secure mounting per USCG regulations. Supply and install any additional USCG-required safety gear identified during inspection, including: Navigation lights, flares, life rings, and audible signaling devices. B.3 Acceptance Criteria All gauges, meters, switches, and lights are fully functional and labeled. Garmin GPS and depth finder are operational with charts installed and configured. Operator console is structurally sound, weatherproofed, and ergonomically arranged. Insulation is properly installed and meets marine safety standards. Fire extinguishers and safety equipment are installed in accordance with USCG requirements. Owner sign-off following successful demonstration and training. B.4 Warranty Minimum 12-month warranty on all installed components and workmanship. Manufacturer warranties apply to Garmin electronics and safety equipment.
