Description

STATEMENT OF WORK 1. Objective/Requirements NASA requires electrical wiring of all NASA aerospace vehicles. In order to accomplish this wiring per NASA standards and safety practices, NASA requires the adherence to the aerospace standards (AS). The SAE AS50881, Wiring Aerospace Vehicles, calls out for the identification of these installed wires using the AS5649, UV Laser Wire and Cable Marking Processes and the AIR5558, Ultraviolet (UV) Laser Marking Performance of Aerospace Wire Constructions. This identification is accomplished by the use of a Laser Wire Marker machine like the Spectrum Technologies NOVA 50-101i Laser Wire Marker machine. All laser wire marking safety follows AFOP-1800.1-010, Laser Safety and Non-Laser Optical Light Safety Program. 2. Characteristics, Scope, and Specs Per the Spectrum Technologies quote, the NOVA 50-101i complies with the SAE AS4373 , Test methods for insulated electric wire. This SAE AS4373 standard references the AS50881 and AS5649, along with many other standards required for the wiring of aerospace vehicles. Other qualification of the NOVA 50-101i are the Boeing Spec BAC, Identification of Electric Wire and Wire Bundles and Sikorsky SS7333 – Identification Marking of Wire/ Cable. Deliver To: NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center Bldg 4876 Warehouse #6, Lilly Drive Edwards, CA 93523 -- 1 of 1 --
