U.S. Bureau of Reclamation – Umatilla Field Office
UFO Pump Relocation Project
1. Background
The Bureau of Reclamation, Umatilla Field Office located in Hermiston Oregon, has a requirement to move
the #2 Fairbanks Morse 3 stage vertical pump which is currently in the Government’s possession and in
operation, located approximately 10 feet from the location it needs to be installed. The contractor will also
be responsible for having it brought to operational capacity.
Description of the Government furnished components
• Pump: Fairbanks Morse, Model# 36XHC6927UW250, and is Approximately 31 feet long. Weight:
30,000 lbs.
• Motor: U.S. Motor, Inverter Duty Weight: 20,600 lbs.
2. Scope
The contractor shall provide all equipment, labor, and materials necessary to complete the scope of this
requirement. This requirement is to disconnect Pump #2 (Fairbanks Morse Model 36XHC6927UW250) from
its current operation and reinstall the pump in a new position approximately 10 feet away, disconnect the
currently operational synchronous motor and relocate it to a position where it will not be operational, install a
2,500‑HP inverter‑duty VFD motor, align and couple it, and conduct motor trim balancing.
3. Period of Performance
Two weeks from contract award.
4. Place of Performance
The pump is located at the Columbia River Pumping Plant near Hermiston Oregon off HWY 730 (next to Sand
Station Park). The coordinates are latitude: 45.922865, longitude: -119.122338.
5. Tasks
a) Pump and Motor Relocation.
Contractor will be responsible for:
• Unbolting and removing the current motor from the pump, a spare motor pedestal will be provided,
the spare motor pedestal is 60 feet from current pump location. The pump motor will have
electrical, RTD’s and vibration probes disconnected by Reclamation personnel.
• Unbolting and removing the pump from the manifold and pump base.
• Supplying a new flange gasket for the pump to manifold flange.
• Relocate pump and motors in accordance with Section 2 of this document.
b) Installation
After relocating the pump and motor the contractor will:
• Secure the pump to the manifold and pump base with the new flange gasket.
• Re-install the VFD motor ensuring proper alignment and coupler adjustments.

• Trim balance the motor. Reclamation personnel will complete electrical hook up, reconnect the
RTD, and vibration probes.
