General Information
1.0 Scope of Work
The contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, tools, supervision, safety and disposal services necessary. All
work must comply with applicable building codes, OSHA safety standards, and manufacturer installation requirements.
1. Remove an existing embedded 72in mechanical dock leveler and fill the pit with reinforced concrete
2. Replace 96 linear feet of exterior wall framing (track and metal studs) at 12 feet high
3. Install new aluminum siding over the rebuilt wall
4. Remove and replace approximately 780 square feet of corrugated metal roofing
1.1 Working hours
ERRC working hours are 0730 – 1600. The facilities are closed on weekends and federal holidays.
2.0 Background
The Eastern Regional Research Center (ERRC) is one of four Regional Research Centers of the Agricultural
Research Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture. The ERRC is home to the nation’s leading scientists and
engineers who solve problems facing the U.S. today and tomorrow with fundamental, applied, and developmental
research on agricultural commodities. Most of this research is conducted in the main building within two
laboratory wings. The original building was constructed in 1940. Due to continuous upgrades and renovations,
ERRC is very modern with respect to laboratory design and system condition.
Contractor Requirements
3.0 Technical Requirements
3.1 Dock Leveler Removal & Concrete Pit Fill
3.1.1 Demolition & Removal
• Establish a safe work zone with barricades and signage.
• Disconnect and remove all mechanical components of the dock leveler.
• Cut rusted anchors, hinges, and frame components using torch or saw.
• Use on-site forklift to extract the leveler from the pit.
• Remove all steel, debris, and waste materials from the site.
3.1.2 Pit Preparation
• Chip and remove loose or deteriorated concrete.
• Clean pit walls and floor to ensure proper bonding.
• Drill and epoxy rebar dowels into pit walls.
• Install rebar reinforcement grid.
• Install formwork at pit opening to match surrounding slab elevation.
3.1.3 Concrete Placement
• Place approximately 2 cubic yards of 4,000–5,000 PSI concrete.
• Consolidate concrete to eliminate voids.
• Screed and finish surface flush with existing dock slab.
• Apply curing compound.
• Remove forms after curing.
3.2 Wall Framing Replacement
3.2.1 Demolition
• Remove existing siding, damaged studs, and track.
• Dispose of all debris.

3.2.2 Installation
• Install new bottom and top track along the full 96 ft length (allow for drainage of rain water).
• Install metal studs at 16" on center.
• Install bracing, blocking, and anchors as required.
• Ensure wall is plumb, square, and structurally sound.
3.3 Corrugated Aluminum Siding Installation
3.3.1 Preparation
• Install moisture barrier (if required).
• Verify framing alignment and fastening points.
3.3.2 Installation
• Install corrugated aluminum siding panels across the full 96 ft × 12 ft wall.
• Install trim, flashing, and edge caps.
• Seal all seams, penetrations, and terminations.
• Ensure weather-tight installation.
3.4 Corrugated Roof Replacement
3.4.1 Removal
• Remove existing corrugated roof panels and fasteners.
• Inspect roof framing and report any structural issues.
3.4.2 Installation
• Install new corrugated metal roofing panels.
• Install ridge caps, side laps, and end laps with proper overlap.
• Install new fasteners with neoprene washers.
• Seal all seams and penetrations.
• Ensure roof is fully weather-tight.
3.5 Cleanup & Finalization
• Remove all debris, packaging, and waste materials.
• Sweep and clean the work area.
• Perform final walk-through and correct deficiencies.
4.0 Deliverables
• The Contractor shall notify the USDA ARS ERRC representative when work is complete.
• The Contractor shall do a final walk through with the Government Representee before acceptance.
• The Contractor shall complete the Punch List before invoicing.
