Questions and Answers FA4897R0008 Runway Pavement Geotechnical Survey Below are the questions and answers we have received addressing this project. 1. Please confirm that the requirement for Phase 1 laboratory results to be available within 24 to 48 hours of removing the cores applies only to the ASTM C42/C42M and ASTM C496/C496M testing identified in Section 4.1 of the SOW. Answer: Confirmed, Ph 1 tests are ASTM C42/C42M and ASTM C496/C496M per para. 4.1 2. ASTM C42/C42M includes specimen moisture-conditioning requirements that may extend beyond the 24–48-hour turnaround identified in the SOW. Please advise whether the Government intends to authorize an alternate conditioning procedure to permit ASTM C42/C42M testing within 24–48 hours of core removal and, if so, what procedure should be followed. Answer: We will bypass the 5-day bag-conditioning period as this test is directed toward freshly placed concrete. Our “specifier of tests” is Dr. Wayne Seiler, P.E. and authorizes and approves this deviation. 3. The RFQ identifies ASTM C642 density, absorption, and voids testing as part of the Base Structural Testing, while Section 4.2 of the SOW identifies ASTM C642 as part of the Advanced Petrographic & Durability Analysis. Please confirm whether ASTM C642 testing is intended to be completed as part of Phase 1 or Phase 2. Answer: ASTM C642 testing is to be accomplished in Phase 2 to allow time for Phase 1 testing, results, and analysis. -- 1 of 1 --
