It is operated by Brookhaven Science Associates (BSA) for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). BNL has a staff of approximately 3,000 scientists, engineers, technicians, and support staff, as well as approximately 5,000 guest researchers annually. Brookhaven National Laboratory advances the mission of the U.S Department of Energy's Office of Science through research in a variety of scientific, technical, engineering, and mathematical disciplines. ͳǤʹ —”’‘•‡Ȁ„Œ‡…–‹˜‡• Serials are an essential source of scientific and technical information utilized by the Laboratory’s community. The Research Library seeks a financially sound, knowledgeable Contractor with demonstrated expertise in supplying serial subscription services to libraries for domestic and foreign serials published in electronic, print, and other formats. A sample title list showing example titles that may be purchased through a serials vendor is attached, see Attachment 1. The Contractor shall furnish all qualified personnel, facilities, services, and supplies for the placement of new and renewal subscriptions to single or multiple addresses as described herein. The subscriptions to be purchased under this contract are essential to the work and research of the Laboratory; interruptions in service and delays in order placement are detrimental to the Laboratory’s research effort. It is the objective of the Research Library to obtain its subscriptions through a contractor whose service combines prompt, accurate handling of orders with discounts where applicable, accurate and timely billing practices, efficient adjustment services, extensive e-journal management resources, and the most comprehensive coverage of publishers possible. ͳǤ͵ –‹…‹’ƒ–‡†‡‡ˆ‹–• The Research Library supports the efficient and effective performance of BNL, by providing scientific and technical information to the Laboratory’s research community, thereby enhancing BNL’s ability to meet the needs of sponsors and to attract and maintain highly qualified staff. The services provided under the contract will also reduce the expenditure of library resources on the placement, renewal, and fulfillment of subscriptions. ʹǤ    References to “BSA Designated Staff”, as used in this Statement of Work means the BSA Technical Representative and their Alternate Technical Representative. The Contractor shall furnish all qualified personnel, facilities, and supplies for the placement of new and renewal subscriptions to single or multiple addresses for domestic and foreign serials and periodicals published in paper and other formats, and for related services.
