What this opportunity is

The Department of Commerce is seeking sources for an ultra high-speed intensified charge-coupled device (ICCD) camera, specifically designed for low light, fast coincidence photon counting in quantum imaging applications. This opportunity is suitable for small businesses under NAICS 334516, particularly those with expertise in advanced imaging technology. As this is a Sources Sought notice, interested vendors should focus on demonstrating their capabilities rather than submitting formal bids at this stage.

Description

Requirements / Specification Document Requirements / Specifications: Ultra High Speed Intensified Charge-Coupled Device (ICCD) Camera 1 Version 1.0 (2019) Double-click on  for further assistance. Use this document to detail specifications/requirements for an item and/or ancillary services.  TITLE: Ultra High Speed Intensified Charge-Coupled Device (ICCD) Camera  Requesting Lab/Division/Group: Physical Measurements Lab/Applied Physics Division/Molecular and BioPhotonics Group (MBG) Requisition Number: NB686110-26-01986 General Statement of Need  The proposed acquisition is for the purchase of an ultra high speed intensified charge-coupled device (ICCD) camera to perform low light, fast coincidence photon counting for quantum imaging applications. The mission of the Molecular and BioPhotonics Group is to provide industry, its suppliers and customers, with comprehensive and technically advanced measurement capabilities and standards, as well as traceability to those standards. NIST’s program in quantum imaging has major measurement challenges to perform entanglement-based indirect imaging. This ultra high speed ICCD camera will enable enable high-throughput, low-jitter coincidence counting needed for quantum imaging applications. Items and/or Ancillary Services  Item 1: ICCD Camera Quantity: One (1) Specifications: 1. Camera must have single photon detecƟon sensiƟvity in the range from 400 nm to 900 nm. In parƟcular, the quantum efficiency in near infrared is greater than 10% at 810 nm. 2. The number of pixels must be greater than 1024 x 1024. 3. The pixel sizes in the array are less than 5 microns x 5 microns. 4. The shuƩer gate Ɵmes (the full width at the half maximum at 50% transmission) must be 200 ps or shorter with Ɵming jiƩer of 10 ps or less. 5. The shuƩer delay Ɵme must be adjustable from 0.0 s to at least 10 s with10 ps resoluƟon. 6. The opening and closing Ɵme of the shuƩer, measured between 1% and 90% transmission, must be less than 30 ps. 7. The shuƩer repeƟƟon rate must be capable of at least 10 MHz. 8. The camera must cover a digital dynamic range of 32 bit or higher. 9. The camera must be operaƟonal in a either burst mode or external trigger mode with a 200 ps or faster shuƩer Ɵme at a repeƟƟon rate of 2 MHz or higher for burst mode and 5 MHz or higher for trigger mode. 10. SoŌware and hardware must support real-Ɵme integraƟon of detected signals into high dynamic memory buffer of 30 bit or higher. 11. The camera shuƩer can be synchronized by a TTL-level external pulse signal. -- 1 of 5 -- Requirements / Specification Document Requirements / Specifications: Ultra High Speed Intensified Charge-Coupled Device (ICCD) Camera 2 Version 1.0 (2019) Double-click on  for further assistance. 12. The camera serves as a trigger master to synchronize with external devices. 13. The lens to focus the photons from free space to the CCD imaging surface provides >95% collecƟon efficiency. 14. The interface to a computer is via a high speed USB, working without a separate frame grabber. 15. Memory transfer from the camera to the computer can be performed via Gigabit ethernet. 16. SoŌware must provide binning for the full frame as well as for user-defined regions of interest. 17. This ultra high speed ICCD camera will enable high-throughput, low-jiƩer coincidence counƟng needed for quantum imaging applicaƟons. Sub-nanosecond gaƟng is essenƟal to achieve accurate coincidence detecƟon with single-photon sensiƟvity while suppressing background signals outside the entanglement correlaƟon window. 18. In addiƟon, ultrafast dynamic imaging requires a detector capable of high repeƟƟon-rate operaƟon to support rapid data acquisiƟon and Ɵme-resolved measurements. 19. To enable broadband quantum imaging experiments, the camera must also be sensiƟve across a wide spectral range spanning the visible to near-infrared. This capability is criƟcal for entangled-photon imaging schemes in which photons are detected in the visible while carrying informaƟon about correlated partners in the near-infrared.
