I. Purpose
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is seeking a Supplemental Medical Review
Contractor (SMRC) to perform post payment medical reviews (MR) and medical review related activities
in support of initiatives within the Center for Program Integrity (CPI) to include the following:
1) The Provider Compliance Group (PCG) ‘Specialty Reviews’ for issues identified by Federal
agencies, such as the Office of Inspector General (OIG)0F
1 , Government Accountability Office
(GAO) , and other CMS groups. In addition to support CMS’ internal data analysis programs to
include the Comprehensive Error Rate Testing (CERT)1F
2 program; the First-look Analysis Tool
for Hospital Outlier Monitoring (FATHOM)2F
