Description
WALK-BEHIND BELT LOADER - AIRCRAFT BAGGAGE LOADER
6.05.2026
Statement of Need: Flight line support equipment is essential for optimizing unit training and ensuring the
success of Volk Field’s specialized APOE/D missions. A critical gap currently exists in the ability to eficiently
load and unload baggage for air transport operations. While Volk Field maintains airport passenger stairs for
embarkation and debarkation, it lacks an aircraft baggage loader—an asset that directly impacts operational
effectiveness. The absence of a baggage loader creates delays in aircraft turnaround times, reducing
throughput and potentially limiting the number of passengers and baggage that can be processed during key
movements. This bottleneck could signiicantly hinder mission readiness and execution, especially during
high-demand APOE/D scenarios.
Procurement of a unit-controlled aircraft baggage loader would enable faster, more reliable loading
operations, preserve mission timelines, and provide the autonomy necessary for full-spectrum unit movement
capability at Volk Field. Without this capability, essential operations risk disruption or cancellation, directly
affecting strategic deployment and training objectives.
