What this opportunity is
The Department of Commerce is seeking a temperature-controlled water bath for RF power calibrations, specifically designed to meet stringent specifications for temperature stability and uniformity. This opportunity is suitable for small businesses with the capability to provide specialized scientific equipment, as vendors must possess an Export Control Classification Number and an active Unique Entity Identification Number. As this is a Sources Sought notice, interested vendors should focus on tracking the opportunity rather than submitting bids at this stage.

TITLE: Water Bath for Microcalorimeters
Requesting Laboratory / Division / Group:
Communications Technology Laboratory
Radio Frequency Technology Division
Guided Wave Electromagnetics Group (672.01)
General Statement of Need:
The Guided Wave Electromagnetics Group needs a temperature-controlled water bath for
RF power calibrations. A water bath is an insulated tank that can be filled with water, and
has the ability to regulate the temperature of the water through heaters and refrigeration.
Water baths often have stirrers to improve temperature uniformity. The water bath needs
to have the best temperature stability and uniformity possible. It also needs to be big
enough to contain NIST’s RF power measurement equipment.
Item Specifications and Quantities:
Item 1: Water bath
Quantity: 1
Specifications: 1.1 Temperature stability of 0.001 C, at most (when filled with
water).
1.2 Temperature uniformity of 0.005 C, at most (when filled
with water).
1.3 Able to achieve a stable water temperature between 10
degrees C and 30 degrees C, at least
1.4 Access opening shall be at least 6 inches by 11 inches.
1.5 Depth of the water shall be at least 16 inches.
1.6 Should have a cart with wheels.
1.7 Should have a way to communicate with a computer (GPIB,
USB, or ethernet) and should respond to SCPI commands or
similar.
Vendor Requirements
1. Possess at time of award/contracting an Export Control Classification Number (ECCN).
2. Possess at time of award/contracting a Unique Entity Identification Number (UEI) which
registration is listed as “Active” on the GSA System for Award Management (SAM.gov).
