THE LANDSAT 9 MISSION OBJECTIVE IS TO EXTEND THE ABILITY TO DETECT AND QUANTITATIVELY CHARACTERIZE CHANGES ON THE GLOBAL LAND SURFACE AT A SCALE WHERE NATURAL AND HUMAN-INDUCED CAUSES OF CHANGE CAN BE DETECTED AND DIFFERENTIATED. C) SUPPORT TO DEVISE AND IMPLEMENT A GROUND SYSTEM CONFIGURATION CONTROL PROCESS. D) SUPPORT TO PRODUCE A NEW TIMELINE FOR A SERIES OF MISSION-LEVEL REVIEWS TO INCLUDE EVENTS FROM RELEASE RMM THROUGH TO LAUNCH. IT WILL ACT AS AN OPTICAL RELAY SATELLITE FOR LOW EARTH ORBIT LEO OPTICAL-CAPABLE SPACECRAFT. IT WILL ALSO HAVE GEO GEO OPTICAL CAPABILITY TO PROVIDE CROSSLINKS TO OTHER OPTICAL RELAY SPACECRAFT THAT WILL BE LAUNCHED AS FOLLOW ON SPACECRAFT. THE LANDSAT DATA ARCHIVE CONSTITUTES THE LONGEST CONTINUOUS MODERATE-RESOLUTION RECORD OF THE GLOBAL LAND SURFACE AS VIEWED FROM SPACE. THE LANDSAT 9 MISSION OBJECTIVE IS TO EXTEND THE ABILITY TO DETECT AND QUANTITATIVELY CHARACTERIZE CHANGES ON THE GLOBAL LAND SURFACE AT A SCALE WHERE NATURAL AND HUMAN-INDUCED CAUSES OF CHANGE CAN BE DETECTED AND DIFFERENTIATED.
