Description
STATEMENT OF WORK
1. Introduction/Background: Three sets of rotor blades with varying structural properties
require fabrication for performance testing on the ROAMX Hover Test Stand (RHTS)
2. Scope of Work: The purchase request (PR) will cover the manufacture of three sets
of five ROAMX blades. The first set will have a layup that is a slight deviation from
the original ROAMX layup, and the subsequent sets of blades will vary depending on
test results from the first set and discussion with contractor.
3. Objectives: The provision of rotor blades for testing with the RHTS in the NASA
Ames Planetary Aeolian Laboratory.
4. Description of the Work/Contractor Tasks:
The three blade sets will be manufactured using existing ROAMX molds and ply layup
instructions, which Sensenich generated and used to manufacture the original ROAMX
blades. The three sets of blades may have slightly different structural and layup
properties, which will be evaluated between manufacturing of blade sets and will be an
iterative process discussing with the awarded company.
Tolerances:
1. Hold thickness outboard to tolerance of 0.005” or better.
2. Maintain thickness outboard of 0.009” (thinnest ply) – maintain the fibers (not
only the resin).
3. Maintain root thickness to +/- 0.005” tolerance (do NOT machine).

5. Deliverables: The following items will be delivered:
• ROAMX blade set with outboard ply orientation changed to 45 degrees (qty 5)
