statment of work and GENERAL Specifications FOR VHA SLC Patient ward refrigerators
Background
Nutrition and Food Services (NFS) provides bulk nourishments for distribution by nursing staff to Veterans admitted into the hospital. The current refrigerators on the wards and units are residential grade refrigerator/freezer combinations that do not consistently maintain temperatures as monitored by TempTrak®. Due to the risk of loss of quality and safety of the foods items provided by NFS, NFS has resorted to only providing shelf-stable items (i.e., juice, pudding, etc.). This does not account for Veteran food items that may be placed in the fridge. It is ideal for each of the nine units to have a commercial grade refrigerator/freezer.
Project Scope
The VA Salt Lake City Healthcare system, Nursing service is requesting nine commercial grade two section refrigerator/freezer units for each inpatient ward/unit to support higher quality temperature control. It is ideal for each unit to be identical.
Performance Requirements
The dual temperature fridge/freezer unit will be stainless steel inside and out, with epoxy coated shelves (or other washable surface) that are adjustable.
Door must be able to be right hinged or left hinged to accommodate the spaces and needs of the various patient care wards. Three units need a left-hinged door (2E, IPU-C, SARRTP-A) and six units need a right-hinged door (Tele, 3W, 2W, ICU, IPU-D, SARRTP-C).
The dual temperature freezer and refrigerator have separate refrigeration systems/condensers
There must be digital temperature display and controls.
The space for each unit should not be larger than 28” wide, 80” height and 35” deep (30”(w), 80”(h), 35”(d). Approximately 10 ft3 refrigerator and 10 ft3 freezer.
Each unit should have 4 casters, with 2 locking front casters
