Description

Questions and Answers Question 1: Should the posts supporting the metal vehicle gates use stronger tubular pipe than 2 3/8-inch diameter pipe? Answer 1: Yes. The tubular pipe should be a minimum of 7-inch outside diameter and 20 lb/ft weight, set a minimum of 48 inches in depth. Question 2: End panels in the wide gully bottoms are subject to wash out; would another design be appropriate? Answer 2: Yes. As identified in the SOW, a 4-wire “break-away” gate across the gulley bottom with stress panels starting up the slope of each draw may be constructed. A suspended swinging flood gate design is also acceptable, consisting of a cable strung between the stress panels on both sides of the gulley top with suspended hanging pipes and spacers between the pipes.
