SPECIFICATIONS
1. DESCRIPTION:
A. Synopsis. Supply and deliver concrete to the Grand View Point Area in the Island in the
Sky District located within Canyonlands National Park. The Vendor shall also provide
various concrete admixtures as requested and listed in this specification. The quantities
of the admixtures will be proportional to the amount of concrete that is ordered.
B. Concrete supplies are needed for the sidewalk and curb along the expanded parking lot
and for the accessible walkway linking to the toilets.
C. This is for the delivery of Concrete Supplies only. NPS staff will be responsible for
forming, placing and finishing all concrete supplied under this requirement.
2. SITE CONDITIONS:
A. Onsite Services:
1. Park provided Phones are not available to the Vendor.

2. Restrooms are available for Vendor use at the Visitor Center, the Grand View
Point area and at various locations within the Park.
B. Road access: Asphalt paved roadways to site. Heavy visitor traffic is possible at times.
3. DELIVERY DAYS AND HOURS:
A. Concrete delivery shall be as scheduled by the Park. No deliveries can be made during
weekends or Federal Holidays.
B. All deliveries shall be coordinated with the Project Crew at (435) 719-2157 throughout
the scheduling and delivery process.
C. Park shall provide vendor minimum of 4 days notification prior to delivery date.

4. DELIVERY LOCATION:
Delivery location is at the Island in the Sky District, 10 miles north on U.S. Highway 191 from
Moab, Utah and then southwest 22 miles on Route 313.
1. Grand View Point Area is located approximately 45 miles from Moab, UT.
The delivery location is approximately 13 miles from the entrance station using
Grand View Point Drive. Travel south 6 miles on the Drive and continue south
past Mesa Arch for 6 more miles. GPS coordinates: latitude: 38.311404°,
longitude: -109.856799°. Attachment A: location map.
5. PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE:
A. The period of performance is 240 days after contract Award effective date.
6. SUBMITTALS:
A. Submittals. Provide electronic cut sheets, preferably in PDF format, that document that
the concrete mixture and associated admixture products meet the requirements of 2.1
Products and 1.1D Warranty. Provide certification of competency for manufacturer’s
concrete mixture 28-day compressive strength. This information must be included with
the quote, even if an approved product is being supplied.
7. PRODUCTS SPECIFICATIONS:
7.1 - Concrete Requirements:
A. Concrete Truck: The concrete supply truck shall be a minimum 10 cubic yard (CY) truck.
The concrete truck shall have a front discharge chute that can be controlled by the driver.
Rear discharge chutes will not be allowed.
B. Measurement: Products will be measured and paid according to the certified weigh
tickets converted to cubic yards. Payment will be made on the actual quantity of concrete
delivered.
C. The Concrete shall be grey or the integral color concrete. The color shall be Davis 5084.
Other brands of similar color may be used. Color shall be added to the mix design at 12
lbs. of color per cubic yard of concrete. Quantities: Colored: 110 CY, Grey: 10 CY.
D. Air Entrainment: 5% ± 1.5%. ASTM C260 specification.
E. 28 Day Compressive Strength: ≥ 4,000 psi mix design. ASTM C873 specification.
F. Cement: Type I or II. ASTM C150 specification.

G. Water-Cement Ratio: 0.35 ≤ W/C ≤ 0.45.
H. Slump at Maximum W/C Ratio: 4 to 6 inches. ASTM C143 specification.
I. Maximum Aggregate Size: 1 inch. ASTM C33 specification.
J. Temperature: ≤ 90°F. ASTM C1094 specification.
7.1 - Requirements for Optional Concrete Admixtures for Hot or Cold Weather:
A. Concrete may require additional admixtures to allow hot or cold weather placement.
These additives are ice, hot water, calcium chloride, fly ash, microfibers and/or delay set
up to 2 hours.
1. Ice: Add ice at 15 lbs. per cubic yard if requested by the Park.
2. Delay Set: Add delay set if requested by the Park for delay up to 2 hours. ASTM
C1017 specification. The Park may order less delay time but will pay for 2 hours.
3. Fly Ash: Option if requested by the Park for substituting 10-25% of required
cement amount with fly ash by weight. ASTM A618 specification.
4. Hot Water: Substitute Hot Water in Mix Design for cold weather concrete.
5. Calcium Chloride: 0.5% to 2.0% if requested.
6. Fiber Mesh: Option if requested for microfibers normally added at 1.5lbs/ft3 .
B. Due to weather variability, the use of these additives may be necessary. The Park will
determine if these additives are required on the day that the concrete order is placed.
C. Additional concrete admixtures are optional. Payment will be made according to actual
usage and will be based on the quoted price per Cubic Yard for each additive as
established in the Price Schedule submitted with quote. Total additive usage shall not
exceed $6,225.00 dollars total without approval from Contracting Officer.

8. CONCRETE DELIVERY REQUIREMENTS:
A. NPS will schedule the exact time and date of delivery with the Vendor.
B. Concrete delivery shall not exceed 15 total delivery trips.
C. Delivery is FOB destination. Delivery cost shall be included in pricing for each Cubic Yard
of concrete.
D. Vendor shall coordinate delivery with the Park to the areas specified by the park at the
Grand View Point Area location.
