Catholic Mass Musician Performance Work Statement (PWS) Eglin AFB Chaplain Corps - 1 - INTENTION The intent of the contract is to establish a Non-Personal Services Contract for a Catholic Musician for the 96 TW/HC Eglin Air Force Base Catholic Community. The Catholic Musician also assists in weekly rehearsals for all volunteers. They will consult and coordinate with the Catholic Priest or his designee, for special requests relating to the Mass. 1 DEFINITIONS 1. N/A 2 SPECIFIC QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE The Catholic Musician will: 1. Have practical experience for proficiency in accompaniment on piano and/or organ. 2. Have a working knowledge of worship music used in Catholic Worship settings and other services. The Contractor must also have the ability to learn new hymns and songs. 3. Present qualities that demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively with chaplain corps members, choir directors, amateur choir members, and members of other faith groups for ecumenical and interfaith services. 3 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS The Catholic Musician will: 1. Participate in weekly rehearsals and performances at Sunday Mass services and Holy Day services. Obtain the Catholic Priest’s approval for special music and activities. 2. Perform at the 0800 and 1100 Mass every Sunday. 3. Coordinate songs with the Catholic Mass Choir Director. 4. Work with the Catholic Choir Director to play special music when needed. 5. Be responsible for all requests for equipment and facilities utilized. -- 1 of 4 -- Catholic Mass Musician Performance Work Statement (PWS) Eglin AFB Chaplain Corps - 2 - 6. Ensure all instruments, music stands, microphone stands, and microphone cords are set up before and put away after services and rehearsals. The Contractor ensures the chapel sanctuary and other places of rehearsal are left in a clean and orderly manner after all services and rehearsals. The Contractor is responsible for facility security, to include making sure that all doors are locked and all lights and sound system are turned off before leaving the area. 7. Route all requests for equipment, facilities, and transportation for outside performances to the Catholic Priest for approval. 8. Arrive 30 minutes prior to the beginning of a worship service for set-up and warm-up sessions. 9. Conduct/attend rehearsal at least once per week or as determined by the Catholic Priest, or his designee. 10. Attend and perform at Special services, liturgies, holy days, as determined by the Catholic Priest, or his designee. 11. Submit any additional requests as required for support of the worship service to the Catholic Priest. 12. Open and secure the chapel building and other facilities used for activities as necessary. 13. Personally perform the services described above or coordinate performance by a substitute of equal or higher proficiency who has been approved in advance by the Catholic Chaplain or his designee. The Contractor will submit the name(s) and qualification(s) of proposed subcontractors to the Catholic Chaplain, or his designee, for approval at least 14 days prior to proposed absence. Subcontractors must meet the requirements for the position as outlined in this Performance Work Statement (PWS). The Contractor is responsible for payments to the subcontractors. 14. A company must submit the name of the sub-contractor when submitting a bid, and prior to contract award. 15. Will in coordination with the Choir Director, help select literature, music, and equipment. 16. With the Choir Director, coordinate with other musicians, as necessary. 17. Will be on time. Will maintain professional appearance. 18. Background Check: Working with children is a very sensitive issue in today's work climate. Extreme care must be taken to hire someone with an excellent background. Contractor will agree to completion of a background check in accordance with DODI 1402.5. 19. In accordance with DODI 1402.5 paragraph E6.4.1.4, When working with children, the contractor may begin work before completion of the background check only provided that he/she is within Line of Site Supervision (LOSS) of a specified volunteer who has successfully completed the installation’s background check process with the Security Office. 20. In accordance with DODI 1402.5 paragraph E6.6.2, payment of the background check is the responsibility of the requesting Service or agency. The Base Chapel will pay for the costs of the background check. 21. Be in good standing with a Catholic Parish and obtain a Letter of Sustainability from your parish. 4 PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE CLIN 0001 CLIN 1001 CLIN 2001 CLIN 3001 CLIN 4001 01 August 2026 to 31 July 2027 01 August 2027 to 31 July 2028 01 August 2028 to 31 July 2029 01 August 2029 to 31 July 2030 01 August 2030 to 31 July 2031 5 SCHEDULE Performs the following as requested/required: Routine Catholic Mass- 1 . This will include a 30-minute warm-up session before two Mass services generally every Sunday. Performance of both Masses is a necessity. Each Sunday, the member will work 1 rehearsal and 2 Masses. Not to exceed 104 masses per year (52 Sunday services). Performance for each Mass is generally one hour; Totaling 2.5 hours of performance each Sunday. (a) 1 Unit = 1 Month -- 3 of 4 -- Catholic Mass Musician Performance Work Statement (PWS) Eglin AFB Chaplain Corps - 4 - Special Services Catholic Mass- 1. Liturgies, Holy Days, and Rehearsals required during the contract performance period will not exceed 15 special Masses annually. These services will include a 30 min warm up session before the service, and performance for the service. The service is generally one hour but not to exceed 2 hours.
