1 U.S. AIR FORCE (USAF) / U.S. SPACE FORCE (USSF) BASIC MILITARY TRAINING METAL NAME TAGS STATEMENT OF WORK June 2026 1) SCOPE OF WORK: The Government requires finished metal USAF/USSF name tags in order to meet all of the agency’s needs, as established by and In Accordance With (IAW) The Institute of Heraldry (TIOH) who is the Department of War agency responsible for researching, designing, and standardizing official military badges and insignia IAW the Department of the Air Force and Space Force Instruction regulations (DAFI 36-2903 and SPFI 36-2903 respectively). For the U.S. Air Force (USAF) and U.S. Space Force (USSF), TIOH ensures all uniform badges, metals, and unit patches strictly adhere to precise manufacturing, color, and design standards described in this Statement of Work (SOW) for approximately 40,500 Active, Guard and Reserve trainees or Prior Service Enlisted Airman Orientation Course (EACO) personnel. The US Space Force is the approval authority for approximately 930 USSF trainees per year at JBSA-Lackland, TX. The USAF metal name tags are designed for wear on the Air Force Service Dress Uniform, and each tag shall state the last name of the trainee or prior service (EAOC) personnel. The USSF metal name tags are designed for wear on the Space Force Service Dress Uniform, and each tag shall be two lines with the trainees or prior service (EAOC) personnel’s first or middle name on line one and their last name on line two. Each trainee or prior service personnel will receive one (1) each United States Air Force (USAF) Service Coat Metal Name Tag or one (1) each United State Space Force (USSF) Service Coat Metal Name Tag. All orders shall be delivered IAW delivery specifications in paragraph four (4) of this SOW. The contractor shall provide all personnel, equipment, tools, materials, supervision, and other items necessary to make metal USAF/USSF name tags. Name tags shall be made to fully comply with the standards set forth by TIOH and IAW the description denoted in paragraphs two (2) and (3) of this SOW. All orders will be placed by fax, email or telephone. Completed orders shall be delivered to: 502 LRS/LGRM, 1550 Wurtsmith Suite 4, Bldg. 5725 JBSA-Lackland, TX 78236-5250 -- 1 of 5 -- 2 2) DESCRIPTION: The USAF Metal Name Tag will be made of Brass or Nickel Silver (Name Plate) with Plastic (Attaching Insert). DIMENSIONS will be Height (Overall) 3/4 inch. Width (Overall) 3 inches, Thickness (Name Plate) 0.025 inch (+1- 0.005 inch) and Thickness (Overall) 0.105 inch (+1- 0.005 inch). The Finish shall be Nickel Plated, Silver Plated, and Matte Finish with a brushed silver finish. MATERIAL: Brass or Nickel Silver Plastic (Attaching Insert) DIMENSIONS: Height (Overall): 3/4-inch Width (Overall): 3 inches Thickness (Name Plate): 0.025 inch plus or minus 0.005 inch Thickness (Overall): 0.105 inch plus or minus 0.005 inch. FINISH: Nickel plated, silver plated, matte with a brushed silver finish. NOTES: i. Attaching devices shall be prong and clutch type. Location shall be as follows: Two prongs shall be located on the horizontal center line 9/16 inch from each end of the plastic edge and be 3/8 inch in length. ii. Engraving shall conform to the official TIOH standard for the Lettering shall be standard block or SL5 13 Portuguese font engraved in all capital letters and is 1/4 inch in height. When a lower-case letter is specified in the order, the letter shall be 1/8 inch in height. The lines forming the letter shall use no less than 0.030 inch or more than 0.040 cutting head. An epoxy-based paint shall be applied to the engraved letters. The paint shall match Pantone Color 2747C. iii. The name tag is to be packed in a protective plastic tube encased in a polybag. a. The polybag shall have a minimum wall thickness of 2 mils -- 2 of 5 -- 3 b. The protective tube shall be clear plastic, not less than 0.0 15 inch in thickness, and not less than 3/4 inch in diameter. iv. The finished name tag shall be lacquered using a pale, clear, synthetic lacquer. The use of a pigmented lacquer shall not be permitted. 3) DESCRIPTION: The USSF Metal Name Tag will be made of Red Brass 85/15 (UNS Alloy No. C-230) or Nickel Silver 65/18 (UNS Alloy No.C-752) DIMENSIONS Height (Overall): 3/4-inch Width (Overall): 3 inches Thickness (Name Plate): 0.025 inch plus or minus 0.005 inch Thickness (Overall): 0.105 inch plus or minus 0.005 inch FINISH: Nickel plated (Red Brass only), silver plated, matte with a brushed silver finish. NOTES: i. The attaching device shall be prong and clutch. Two prongs shall be located on the horizontal center line 9/16 inch from each end of the plastic edge and be 3/8 inch in length. ii. Both ends to the name tag will have 15-degree angle cuts, IAW this illustration: iii. A two-line name is required. The first line is the member's first or middle name, the second line is the member’s last name. Call signs are not authorized on the Name Tag. Lettering shall be standard block or SL513 Portuguese Font engraved in all capital letters and be 1/4 inch in height with a 1/16-inch space between the first line and the second line. The lines forming the letters shall use no less than 0.030-inch or more than a 0.040-inch cutter head. The engraved letter depth shall be no less than 0.008-inch or no more than 0.010- inch. Epoxy based paint shall be applied to the engraved letters. The paint shall match Pantone Color 2188C. iv. The finished name tag shall be lacquered using a pale, clear, synthetic lacquer. The use of a pigmented lacquer shall not be permitted. -- 3 of 5 -- 4 v. The name tag shall be packaged in a protective plastic tube encased in a polybag. The polybag shall have a minimum wall thickness of 2 mils. The protective tube shall be clear plastic, not less than 0.015 inches in thickness and be not less than 3/4 inch in diameter. 4) PERFORMANCE: The Government will provide rosters with trainee or prior service (EAOC) personnel’s last name to the contractor weekly as
