INTRODUCTION/OVERVIEW
These Near Infrared Photomultiplier sensors and power supplies and cables will be used in a custom-built adaptive optics scanning light ophthalmoscope (AOSLO) deployed at NEI clinical space OP10 for patients’ retinal imaging.
1.1 BACKGROUND
The custom-built AOSLO at NEI clinical space OP10 has been used for patients’ imaging in the past a few years to study retinal diseases. The AOSLO system requires regular update and refreshing of hardware to complies with NEI clinical studies and clinical trials.
1.2 SCOPE
After the contractor is awarded, the vendor Hamamatsu will deliver three sets of the Near Infrared Photomultiplier sensors, including the sensor units, power supplies, and signal cables to National Institutes of Health.
1.3 OBJECTIVES
These Near Infrared Photomultiplier sensors for the existing custom-built AOSLO will enable the system to have potentials to find new retinal biomarkers that can’t be found in commercial retinal imaging devices, hence the potentials to expedite clinical studies and clinical trials.
2.0 REQUIREMENTS
2.1 TASKS
The vendor will deliver three sets of the Near Infrared Photomultiplier sensors and power supplies and cables in 180 days after the contract is awarded. Some technical details of these items are in the section of 2.2.
2.2 DELIVERABLES
The vendor will ship three sets of the Near Infrared Photomultiplier sensors and power supplies and cables including,
Three units of Near Infrared Photomultiplier sensors with model “H15620-25”
Three units of power supplies “C16137-C2” used for “H15620-25”
Four units of signal cables “MCAB-C16137-1550” to connect the sensor modules and the power supplies
In addition, the sensor module “H15620-25” to be delivered will have these key specifications,
Recommended control voltage: +0.5V to +0.8 V
Effective sensing area: f1.6mm
Spectral response: 950 nm-1200 nm
Peak quantum efficiency wavelength: 1100 nm
Gain: 1x106
Cathode quantum efficiency: 2%

2.3 SCHEDULE
The vendor will deliver the items in 180 days after the contract is awarded.
2.4 ASSUMPTIONS
This custom-built AOSLO system has already integrated three of these Near Infrared Photomultiplier sensors through previous contracts (PO# 75N98025P01648 and PO# 75N98025P01236) and it has achieved initial success with two oral presentations reported in the 2026 annual conference of Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology in Denver, Colorado. This SOW is based on the assumption that the three new identical sensors will be used to replace aging detection modules in our custom-built AOSLO system.
3.0 GOVERNMENT FURNISHED PROPERTY
There is no government-furnished property provided to the contractor.
4.0 SECURITY REQUIREMENTS
There is no unique security requirement associated with contract performance.
