1240LU26Q0099 Forest Wide Siding Replacement 1 PROJECT DESCRIPTION AND LOCATION a) Scope of Contract. This project is to replace existing siding on the buildings listed in the bid schedule. Work includes exterior surface preparation including demo and/or repair of existing siding, installation of weather proofing where needed, installation of new siding, caulking, and painting if required. Scope of work includes, but is not limited to, removal of the existing siding, trim, fascia, soffits, and moisture barrier and the installation of all new moisture barrier, siding, trim, fascia, and vented soffits. Drawings are attached for estimating purposes. Contractor is responsible for verifying dimensions and anticipated material quantities prior to estimating and material purchasing. Contractor is to provide all labor, materials, and tools to complete the work and dispose of all refuse off FS property in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws. b) Project Location. Various locations on the Helena – Lewis and Clark National Forest. See drawings. c) Construction Magnitude: $25,000 - $100,000 d) Period of Performance: Contractor will be allowed 14 calendar days per building. All work shall be completed by September 30, 2027. SPECIFICATIONS SECTION 01 33 00 – SUBMITTAL PROCEDURES PART 1 – GENERAL 1.01 PROCEDURES FOR SUBMITTALS A. Reviewing, Certifying, Approving Authority: Contractor shall be responsible for reviewing and certifying that submittals are in compliance with contract requirements. B. Scheduling: Allow review period, beginning with receipt by approving authority that includes at least 5 working days for submittals for contracting officer approval. Period of review for submittals with contracting officer approval begins when Government receives submittal from contractor. Period of review for each resubmittal is the same as for initial submittal. C. Variations: Variations from contract requirements require Government approval pursuant to contract Clause entitled “FAR 52.236-21, Specifications and Drawings for Construction” and will be considered where advantages to government. The contractor shall keep the work site free from accumulation of waste materials and rubbish resulting from the work. Clean areas daily as required to maintain a safe working site. B. Before final acceptance of the project by the Government, the contractor shall remove from the site all excess material, waste, and rubbish resulting from this work. 1.02 DISPOSAL A. Waste and excess material: a. Material that is either waste or in excess of the needs of the contractor shall be disposed of at the contractor’s expense in accordance with all local, state and federal regulations at an approved offsite location. b. Burning of waste or excess material on site is not permitted. SECTION 072500 WEATHER BARRIERS PART 1 GENERAL 1.01 SECTION INCLUDES A. Water-resistive barriers. 1.02 DEFINITIONS A. Weather Barriers: Materials or assemblies forming water-resistive barriers, air barriers, vapor retarders, or combination of one or more assemblies. B. Water-Resistive Barriers: Materials or assemblies installed behind exterior wall coverings; designed to prevent liquid water from further penetration into exterior wall assembly. 1.03 FIELD CONDITIONS A. Maintain temperature and humidity recommended by materials manufacturers before, during, and after installation. Description: Materials installed behind exterior wall coverings; designed to prevent liquid water from further penetration into exterior wall assembly. Primary materials include mechanically applied sheets; accessory materials include flashings and seam tapes. B. Water-Resistive Barrier Membrane: Nonwoven, polypropylene membrane with microporous coating. 2.02 ACCESSORIES A. Seal and Perimeter Tapes: As recommended by water-resistive barrier manufacturer. B. Flashings and Sealants: As recommended by water-resistive barrier manufacturer for application. C. Sealant for Cracks and Joints In Substrates: Resilient elastomeric joint sealant compatible with substrates and weather barrier materials. 2.03 FASTENERS A. Fasteners for Attaching Water-Resistive Barriers to Substrates: As recommended by barrier manufacturer for application. PART 3 EXECUTION 3.01 EXAMINATION A. Verify that surfaces and conditions comply with requirements of this section. 3.02 INSTALLATION A. Install materials in accordance with manufacturer's installation instructions. 3.03 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL A. Inspection and Testing: Cooperate with Owner for inspection 1. Allow access to work areas and staging. 2. Do not cover work of this section until inspection is accepted. B. Take digital photographs of each portion of installation prior to covering up weather barriers. 3.04 PROTECTION A. Do not leave materials exposed to weather longer than recommended by manufacturer.
