What this opportunity is
NASA is seeking to acquire a KRÜSS DSA100 Expert Drop Shape Analyzer, including software, installation, and training, under a small business set-aside. This procurement falls under NAICS 334516 and PSC 7A20, making it suitable for small businesses specializing in scientific instruments and analytical equipment. The notice type is a combined synopsis/solicitation, indicating that interested vendors should prepare to respond with proposals rather than simply tracking the opportunity.

Software modules AD3221, AD62 and
AD3223 are required.
1 AD3221 Software ADVANCE- DropShape or equal -
Contact Angle Module to determine static and
dynamic contact angles using sessile drop and
captive bubble methods.
To control camera, illumination, temperature,
dosing modules, table movements (depending
on modules selected), to measure, store and
report measured contact angle values.
Supported models: Conic Section, Polynom,
Circle, Young-Laplace, Height Width
Measuring range: 0-180
Resolution: 0.01
1 AD3223 Software ADVANCE or equal - DropShape
- Surface and Interfacial Tension Module I to
determine surface and interfacial tension of
liquids
-- 2 of 4 --
by analysis of pendant drop and rising drop as
well as determination of E' and E'' using the
oscillating drop method. (depending on
modules selected)
Supported model: Young-Laplace
Measuring range: 0.01-2000 mN/m
Resolution: 0.01 mN/m
1 AD62 Software ADVANCE or equal - Surface
Free Energy Module to determine surface free
energy of solids from contact angle data.
The surface free energy splits into its polar
and dispersive components, its acid and base
components as well as its hydrogen bonding
components, according to different models.
The software calculates wetting envelope.
