Statement of Work Landscape Maintenance Location: National Weather Service TOP Weather Forecast Office 1116 NE Strait Ave. Topeka, KS 66616 Scope The contractor shall provide all personnel, tools, equipment, materials and supervision for the duties required to care for all of the grounds within the boundaries of the Weather Forecast Office as described in this statement of work. Description of Work The Contractor shall: 1. Mow all grassy areas on the property. 2. Trim with a string trimmer around the buildings, driveway, sidewalks, equipment and other stationary objects. 3. Rake, as needed or upon request from Meteorologist in Charge, to remove excess clippings, leaves or other debris. 4. Use a broom or a blower to remove clippings from the parking areas and sidewalks. 5. Remove weeds or grass growing in shrubbery areas or mulch-covered areas. 6. Use an edger to cut along all sidewalks and other edges as necessary. 7. Bag and remove all clippings and debris from the site using approved methods which follow all Federal, State and Local laws and regulations. Additional Requirements The Contractor shall: 1. Prune and trim all shrubbery at the appropriate time in the Spring and Fall. 2. Fertilize lawn, trees, and shrubs, and treat for weeds, crabgrass and insects. These applications shall follow a schedule of: a. Spring - Pre-emergent, fertilizer, and broadleaf weed and crabgrass control. b. Late spring - Slow release fertilizer and broadleaf weed and crabgrass control. c. Summer - insect control (including grubs) application. d. Fall - Broadleaf weed control and micronutrients. Additional Work Outside the Statement of Work Additional work not covered in specifications, may be required upon request by the MIC. However no work shall be completed without advance approval or a modification to the contract. -- 1 of 3 -- Contractor shall be compensated for the additional work at an hourly rate, which should be included in the contract. Inspections and Acceptance The MIC or his designee has designated authority to make a full inspection to see that the contract is completed per the SOW. The contractor shall be notified before departure if any items are sub-standard. Local Government Contact Point The local point of contact is the MIC, Kris Craven, 785-232-1493. Terms of SOW 1. The Contractor will bill on a monthly basis in arrears for the service provided. 2. The contractor, if remotely located, shall designate a representative local to the contract with contact numbers, for the government's local representative to communicate with about the quality or work, progress, and technical details of the project. 3. The government reserves the right to waive lawn care or request lawn care to ensure the grounds keep a well-maintained appearance. 4. The Contractor shall ensure that all debris is cleaned up before he leaves. 5. The Contractor shall ensure that no hoses or tools are left out or placed (used) in such a way that they become a trip hazard or impede normal access to the buildings and property. 6. The Contractor will follow all Federal, State, and Local regulations. 7. The Contractor is responsible for the clean-up and remediation of any chemical/compound spills he made. 8. Upon arrival the Contractor and/or employee shall sign in on the security log sheet when entering the property. -END OF SOW- -- 2 of 3 -- -- 3 of 3 --
