141 MXS Wheel & Tire
SUBJECT: Salient Characteristics – Aircraft Wheel Shop Equipment
1. Purpose: This memorandum covers the requested salient characteristics for purchasing aircraft wheel shop equipment for use in the 141st Maintenance Squadron (MXS) Wheel & Tire shop. The requirement consists of the items listed below. If unable to fulfill all requirements listed herein, please contact the point of contact below to discuss any concerns.
2. The requirement consists of the following:
One (1) Dynamic Universal Bead Breaker or equivalent meeting all characteristics below. Gentle rotational bead breaking (not a ring press) with low-noise bead breaker designed for the latest generation of radial and bias aircraft tires in use on aircraft including the A320, A340, A350, A380, B737, B787, B777-ER, B747-8, and ERJ 190. The Bead Breaker must come standard enclosed on three (3) sides with safety mesh; not to be external fencing. Required 3 phase amperage shall not exceed 16 amps. DUBB NG auto is an option.

One (1) Universal Assembly and Disassembly Stand or equivalent meeting all characteristics below. Fully hydraulically operated stand featuring wheel lifting, lowering, tilting up to 90 degrees, and wheel clamping/releasing for comfortable, one-man assembly and disassembly operations. The stand should have two (2) fully integrated overhead beams with hoist and possess a stand that can raise and lower the build platform for ergonomics of operator.

One (1) Double Overhead Beams or equivalent meeting all characteristics below. Installed on top of the UAS. One beam is used for attachment of a UTS Universal Torquing System; the second beam is equipped with a hoisting device for lifting aircraft rim halves during wheel assembly and disassembly.

Features programmable wheel and operator ID; spindle distance and required torque are set fully automatically based on programmed wheel P/N. Equipped with a 12-inch display providing guidance during the torque process including bolt positioning, torque sequence order, and color-coded bolt status indication.
