Scope of Work Hydronic System Upgrades GENERAL INFORMATION Introduction The Department of the Interior (DOI), U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Upper Midwest Environmental Sciences Center (UMESC) 2630 Fanta Reed Road, La Crosse, Wisconsin 54603 requires replacement of existing hydronic boilers and installation of new standard efficiency boilers and all appurtenances. Background: The existing facility hot water system is served by three Thermal Solutions (Model Number EVA3000BN1) 3,000,000 BTU/hr non-condensing hot water boilers. The boilers have reached the end of their useful life and are in need of replacement. Scope: Services, construction, to provide all equipment, labor, travel, and materials (unless otherwise provided herein) necessary replace existing hydronic boilers and any required changes to new boiler venting, all piping and appurtenances complete. Finished system will include venting, piping, power, instrumentation and wiring to connect new boilers complete to existing facility hydronic system. Contractor shall be responsible for connecting boiler controls to the existing Automated Logic Webctrl Building Automation System (BAS). Contractor shall install system complete, with all appurtenances fully installed per manufacturers guidelines and applicable codes to provide a complete working system. Submit for all equipment required to complete this Requirement as a complete installed system. Mark general catalog sheets and drawings to indicate specific items being submitted and proper identification of equipment by name and/or number. Before submitting electrically powered equipment, verify that the electrical power and control requirements for the equipment are in agreement with the existing site conditions and existing power supplied to the existing boilers and pumps. Include a statement on the shop drawing transmittal that the equipment submitted and the existing power available are in agreement. Include wiring diagrams of electrically powered equipment. New boilers shall meet or exceed specifications of existing boilers. Demolition: Contractor shall demolish and remove the three existing Thermal Solutions boilers. Any existing control sensors from facility BAS to be retained for reuse. System Requirements: System shall meet or exceed the following minimum requirements: New Boilers: Existing boilers are Thermal Solutions EVA3000BN1) 3,000,000 BTU/hr non-condensing hot water boilers. New boilers shall match specifications of existing boilers, including but not limited to: Boiler shall have turndown capacity 3:1 or better. Electrical requirements matching existing boilers. Input/Output to/from BAS. Contractor shall be responsible for any system modifications, including but not limited to: piping, electrical and venting modifications, as needed to install new boilers. Contractor shall furnish complete and install all piping, venting, electrical, controls and safeties according to manufacturer’s guidelines and relevant building codes. Pumps: Contractor shall confirm that existing boiler loop pumps conform to manufacturers recommendations. If existing pumps are not in compliance with new boiler requirements, Contractor shall provide and install new pumps for each boiler that conform to each boiler requirements and manufacturer guidelines. Venting: Contractor shall provide and install all venting. All material and work according to boiler manufacturers recommendations. Contractor shall include an electric vent stack damper on the stack outlet of each boiler sized and installed per boiler manufacturer recommendations. Stack damper shall be interlocked to the boiler start command such that the boiler shall not start unless the damper is proven open.
