General Information
1.0 Scope of Work
The Wallowa Whitman National Forest requires Non-Commercial Thin/Sectioning Service over approximately 737
acres in the Deer Thin Sectioning #2 project units of the Whitman Ranger District to reduce hazardous fuels. Specific
performance tasks are listed in paragraph 3.

3.0 Performance Tasks
3.1 General:
3.1.a. This is a non-Personnel Services Contract. The Contractor shall furnish all labor, supervision, equipment,
transportation, (except those designated as Government-furnished), and incidentals for Fuels reduction activities
within the Wallowa Whitman National Forest within the scope of this contract.
3.1.b. Objective: The overall objective of this project is to alter the continuity of the fuel bed in open ponderosa pine
stands; 1) natural buildup of woody debris on the forest floor, and 2) hazardous live fuels (ladder fuels). The end result
of activities performed under this call order would produce areas that have pockets of slash where future planned
prescribed fire will be applied to the landscape to reduce the overall fuel loading and hazardous live fuels (ladder fuels).
This will provide a safer working environment for firefighters in the future and to improve their probability of success in
suppressing wildfires on Forest Service lands, produce less damage to natural resources, and to reduce the impact of
wildfire to adjacent private citizens property, structures, and other values at risk.
3.1.c. Contractor Work Plan: The contractor shall submit a work plan for acceptance to the COR within 14 calendar
days of award. (Deliverable 01). At a minimum the work plan shall include: 1) project milestone plan depicting 35%,
70% and 100% dates. 2) Key Personnel. 3) Safety Plan. 4) Fire Plan. 5) Contractor’s Quality Control Plan iaw FP-03
153.02 and 6) FS Overload Permits. 7) Contractor equipment storage request.
3.2 Project Area. Deer Thin/Sectioning #2, 737 acres in the Deer Project Area consisting of Deer units S5, S7, S8,
S10, S10A, and S11. See Deer Thin Sectioning #2 map.
3.2.a Area Description. Open Ponderosa Pine stands, scattered pockets of natural Ponderosa Pine regeneration, with
some scattered pockets of mixed conifer regeneration.
