What this opportunity is

NASA is seeking to purchase multiple Ultra High Vacuum (UHV) components for the ICEE facility, which supports planetary science research. This opportunity is set aside for Total Small Businesses under FAR 19.5, making it suitable for small contractors specializing in scientific equipment and vacuum technology. Interested vendors should note that this is a Combined Synopsis/Solicitation, indicating that they will need to track the opportunity closely and prepare to submit proposals rather than simply responding to a notice.

Description

Statement of Work for UHV Components 1 Background: The ICEE facility is a state-of-the-art planetary science research facility consisting of three separate stations: a Raman Microscope, an Ultra High Vacuum (UHV) chamber, and a Fourier Transform Infrared and Raman Experiments (i.e., FIRE) station. The ICEE Facility, located at NASA Ames Research Center, is a unique NASA resource capable of replicating the wide range of extraterrestrial environments needed for planetary science research. The purchase of a low temperature, low vibration helium cryo-cooler will enable additional ice experiments, as UHV conditions are needed for accurate ice experiments. The low vibration cryostat will enable imaging of the sample during experimental runs. In order to attach the UHV low vibration cryostat, multiple UHV components are needed. Scope and Specifications: The multiple UHV components shall include 1. RNN Series Differentially Pumped Rotary Seal with a. 8” CF base and travel flange detail, tapped, on 10.25” O.D. plates b. 6.03: I.D. through bore Graphite impregnated PTFE seals c. 150 ˚C maximum bakeout temperature d. 0-360 ˚ scale with vernier e. Capable of base pressure in 10 -11 Torr range f. Fine adjust worm drive, 100:1 drive ratio g. Extended ports for EB stage clearance. 2. Valve Manifold System, permitting 1st Stage pump to evacuate 2 nd stage pump 3. EBT Series UHV (Ultra High Vacuum) precision linear translator with a. 8” O.D. CF base flange, tapped b. 8: O.D. CF travel flange, tapped c. 4.98” I.D. stainless steel edge welded bellows d. 12” Z travel knob with adjust acme drive, 0.001” resolution 4. Price shall include packing. 5. Price shall include shipping. Period of Performance: The period of performance shall be from award to 12/20/2026. -- 1 of 1 --
