It is recommended to rent a prime rated generator for continuous operation until the replacement of main electrical outdoor switch gear is complete. The rental is estimated to last several months before normal power is restored to the building. 2.0 Definitions USFS – United States Forest Service CO – Contracting Officer COR – Contracting Officer’s Representative BLDG.- Building Contractor Requirements 3.0 Technical Requirements / Tasks 3.1. USDA Forest Service requires one (1) 300KW, 277/480V-4160V or suitable output prime generator or alternate power source to be connected to SBNF SO to support the full load at SBNF SO. If a diesel generator (trailer mounted with outdoor enclosure) of equal size and rating of the existing standby generator is provided, it shall be complete with a block heater, battery charging circuit, diesel fuel capacity capable of forty-eight (48) hour minimum run time prior to refueling at full continuous base load shall be provided. The prime generator will be installed to provide continuous temporary power to the building and alternate with the Government owned, Standby Generator when the Prime generator requires maintenance or if the Prime generator fails during operation. Only one generator provides power to the building at a time via a transfer switch No synchronization is needed, as the loads are switched between them. 3.2. The contractor should have access to service the generators in the event a generator needs service while in use and to perform maintenance during the period of performance. All associated scheduled maintenance, material and labor is to be provided in the monthly rental price. The contractor shall provide 24hr of support for the generator if needed. 3.3. The existing standby generator will only serve as the backup generator during contractor scheduled service and preventive maintenance of the prime generator. 3.4.
