The work consists of prefabrication, on-site delivery, off- loading, placement, assembly, and complete installation of new precast concrete vault toilets. Site work and earthwork is included for the installation of new toilets. When removing old vault toilets, Contractor shall pump out, clean, and remove the existing vault and toilet; and minimize over excavation and damage to adjacent improvements and vegetation. The new toilet shall be installed in the location of the existing toilet after removal, or as shown on the plans. The new toilet shall be installed in the approximate location of the old toilet, as approved by the government on site. 2.0 Background Sequoia National Forest would like to maintain safe toilet building conditions for the public and employees through the forest. This work is essential to the recreational and public health and safety aspects of the mission. The vault toilet buildings being replaced are old vault toilets that have exceeded their life expectancy. The vault toilets being replaced are much harder to keep sanitary and safe for the public than the new concrete style vault toilets we are replacing them with. The newer concrete vault toilets are much more resistant to fire than the older vault toilets. Some vault toilet locations are also being moved to more appropriate spots for the current conditions of the respected campground or trail head.
