Verbenone Pouches

Statement of Work(SOW) + Salient Characteristics Item Verbenone Pouch: Procurement of 7,700 total dispensers that are currently registered by EPA for control of Mountain Pine Beetle. Each dispenser must contain at least 6.75g of Verbenone, 4,6,6-Trimethylbicyclo(3.1.1)hept-3-en-2-one. Each shipment to individual offices shall include current EPA label and MSDS. Verbenone is a synthetic pheromone that repels Pine beetle spp. by replicating a naturally occurring anti-aggregate pheromone/chemical that the problem insects use to communicate with each other. This pheromone falsely informs or tricks other attacking insects to believe that suitable host trees have been ‘consumed’ and that the attacking insect population should seek alternate locations. Verbenone is available OTC (over the counter). Verbenone is environmentally safe and non-toxic to mammals, plants and insects. The purpose to obtain the Verbenone pouches is for Forest Service Biologists will deploy insect anti- aggregate pheromone packets in Pine Species type forest environments to mitigate impact by forest pest: Mountain Pine Beetle (Dendroctonus Ponderosae). This will be achieved by procuring 7,700 chemical dispenser units specifically formulated to protect host trees from this forest pest. The dispensers will be affixed to appropriate host spp. trees at a pre-determined quantity per acre based upon manufacturers and US Forest Service recommendations. These items will be attached with staples to the outer bark of the host trees will not adversely affect the trees and will protect the pheromone packet during its period of performance.
