FOREST SERVICE SUPPLEMENTAL SPECIFICATIONS BIRCH CREEK CCC CAMP ROOFING REPLACEMENT SECTION 000050 – BIRCH CREEK CCC CAMP ROOFING REPLACEMENT 2 SECTION 019000 - MOBILIZATION 6 SECTION 024119 - SELECTIVE DEMOLITION 7 SECTION 061000 ROUGH CARPENTRY 9 SECTION 075216 - STYRENE-BUTADINE-STYRENE (SBS) MODIFIED BITUMEN MEMBRANE ROOFING 15 SECTION 077000 ROOF AND WALL SPECIALTIES AND ACCESSORIES. 23 SECTION 000050 – BIRCH CREEK CCC CAMP ROOFING REPLACEMENT 1.1 GENERAL This item shall consist of installing a new roof on Block Hall, Birch Creek Lodge, Lodgepole Cabin, Emerich Hall, Recreation Hall, and the Captain’s Quarters on the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest, on the Dillon Ranger District at the Birch Creek CCC Camp. Work includes but is not limited to removing/replacing SBS modified bitumen rolled roofing, replacing roof sheathing, installing weather proofing and water barriers, and installing required trim for roofs. If there are any questions about acceptable materials or techniques to be used, please contact the CO. Any and all unused excess materials and property paid for will be retained by the Forest Service. Arranging a storage location for excess material will be at the discretion of the Contracting Officer. The project is located at Birch Creek CCC Camp. Access to this site in the winter is dependent on weather. The project includes 6 buildings of varying use. Transportation: The Contractor shall provide adequate and safe methods for trucking and transporting equipment and materials onto and off the projects sites. All Local, State, and federal regulations and laws shall be complied with by the Contractor during trucking and transporting operations on Local, County, State, and Forest roads. Clean substrate of any projections and substances detrimental to roofing work. Proceed with installation of underlayment, and roofing materials only when weather conditions are in compliance with manufacturer’s recommendations and when substrate is completely dry. 1.2 DEMOLITION OF EXISTING ROOF Temporary Protection: Maintain integrity of building enclosures keeping all openings, holes, joints, and gaps sealed to prevent entry from bats or other wildlife. Erect temporary protection, such as walks, fences, railings, and canopies, where required to protect residents of the buildings. Provide protection to ensure safe passage of people around building demolition area to and from occupied portions of adjacent buildings and structures, in accordance with Federal OSHA requirements. Warning Signs and Labels: Provide warning signs at all approaches and doors to the work areas. Locate signs at such a distance that personnel may read the sign and take the necessary protective steps required before entering the area. Warning signs may be in the form of continuous plastic tape. At a minimum signs should read WARNING DO NOT ENTER ROOFING WORK Alternate wording for the warning signs will be approved by the Contracting Officer. 1.3 DIMENSIONS FIELD VERIFICATION A. Field verify all dimensions affecting the work of this contract prior to ordering materials. 1.4 GUARANTEE A. Furnish a product guarantee-warranty in writing against a defective roofing materials for at least 10 years from date of acceptance. 1.5 Measurement and Payment - Measurement and payment for contract work will be made only for and under those pay items included in the SCHEDULE OF ITEMS. All other work, labor, materials, equipment, and incidentals necessary to successfully complete the project will be considered as included in the payment for items shown. When more than one class, size, type, thickness, etc. is specified in the Schedule of Items for any pay item, suffixes will be added to the item number to differentiate between the pay items. Payment shall be by units defined and determined according to U.S. Standard measure and by the following: Linear Foot (LF): Measurement of work along its length from point-to-point; parallel to the base or foundation. Do not measure overlaps. Lump Sum (LSQ): One complete unit. Square Foot (SF): Measured on a plane parallel to the surface being measured. Method of measurement: One of the following methods of measurement for determining final payment is designated on the Schedule of Items for each pay item: ACTUAL QUANTITIES (AQ) - These quantities are determined from actual measurements of completed work. DESIGNED QUANTITIES (DQ) - These quantities denote the final number or units to be paid for under the terms of the contract. They are based upon the original design data available prior to advertising the project. Original design data include the preliminary survey information, design assumptions, calculations, drawings, and the presentation in the contract. Changes in the number of units shown in the Schedule of Items may be authorized under any of the following conditions: As a result of changes in the work authorized by the CO. As a result of the CO determining that errors exist in the original design that cause a pay item quantity to change by 15 percent or more. As a result of the Contractor submitting to the CO a written request showing evidence of errors in the original design that cause a pay item quantity to change by 15 percent or more. The evidence must be verifiable and consist of calculations, drawings, or other data that show how the designed quantity is believed to be in error. LUMP SUM QUANTITIES (LSQ) - These quantities denote one complete unit of work as required by or described in the contract, including necessary materials, equipment, and labor to complete the job. They shall not be measured. 1.6 All Submittals - It will be the Contractor's responsibility to submit information on all items required with such promptness as to cause no delay in the work.
