Building 1005 Water Line Repairs

DISTRIBUTION: DoD COMMUNITY ONLY Scope of Work Building 1005 Water Line Repairs Project # 26-0003 GENERAL DESCRIPTION: This project will demolish and replace existing dilapidated 8” water main with new C900 water pipe between buildings 1005 and 1106. DETAILED REQUIREMENTS: 1. Remove all existing 8" water pipe where open cut is allowed as noted. The segment beneath Ash Street is to be abandoned in place, grouted, and capped so not to disturb the existing asphalt and curbing. 2. Provide and install new 8" C900 water pipe in place of the old water pipe as it is removed. Connect new water pipe to valve located in front of Building 1005 to the valve located on the west side of Ash Street at Building 1106. 3. Pipe joints shall be push-on restrained joints. Mechanical joint fittings shall be double restrained. Provide concrete thrust blocks at all fittings and valves in accordance with the detail on this sheet. 4. All fittings shall be ductile iron, conforming to AWWA C153 or C110 cement-mortar lined per AWWA C104. 5. Provide minimum 36" cover unless otherwise specified. 6. Provide 57 stone pipe bedding. All fill placed shall be compacted in 6" lifts compacted to 90% modified proctor in non-paved and 95% under sidewalks or other paved areas. Provide all compaction tests to the government for review and approval. 7. Existing water line shall remain in service until new line is installed, tested, disinfected, and approved. Chlorination, flushing, and bacteriological testing is required. Provide all test results to government for review and approval prior to placing line into service. 8. New water line shall be hydrostatically pressure tested to minimum 150 psi. 9. Any sidewalks or walkways disturbed during construction must be repaired, to include the top of the existing steam tunnel that is used as a sidewalk. 10. Concrete headwalls must be constructed on both sides of the steam tunnel where new water pipe is installed through it. Drill and install pins 12" in length with #5 rebar 12" O.C. and connect to existing walls. Flush holes with water, set pins in epoxy adhesive, and coat extended pins with metal primer. 11. Any portion of storm drain that is disturbed or damaged during construction must be repaired. 12. Provide all product data for pipe, joints, and fittings to the government for review and approval. GENERAL NOTES: 1. Contractor shall locate all underground utilities, including telecommunications and commercial cabling, prior to ground disturbing activities. 2. Contractor shall field verify all measurements. 3. Preserve and protect all existing utilities, including telecommunications and commercial cabling. 4. Contractor is responsible for any damage to utilities, including telecommunications and commercial cabling. 5. Contractor is responsible to coordinate commercial cabling with commercial cabling providers 6. Contractor shall coordinate all construction activities with ROICC, I&E, and base utilities. 8. Sod any disturbed areas upon completion of construction. 9. Jobsite shall be kept clear of all debris and trash. 10. Contractor shall be responsible for all aspects of environmental, health and safety (EHS). Contractor shall be responsible for complying with its policies and procedures related to EHS matters. -- 2 of 2 --
