Description
Notice of Intent: Camera upgrade for Nikon Ti2 microscope
(75N98026Q00807)
In accordance with FAR Part 6.302-1, the National Institutes of Health intends to award a Firm-
Fixed-Price Purchase Order to Nikon Instruments Inc.
The Laboratory of Cancer Biology and Genetics (LCBG) Microscopy Core Facility of the
DHHS/NIH/NCI/CCR has a need to upgrade the capabilities of (1) Nikon Eclipse Ti2 microscope in
the Core. The proposed replacement sCMOS camera (Teledyne Photometrix Kinetix) has a 30mm
sensor size which is 40% larger than the old camera and a 500 FPS capture rate. This would allow
us to capture 40% more data per FOV at over 10x the speed of the current camera, leading to higher
throughput of imaging on the microscope in the Core. The Kinetix also has a near perfect 96%
Quantum Efficiency. The Kinetix sCMOS has the necessary extreme speed, high sensitivity, and
high resolution to meet the needs of the LCBG Microscopy Core Facility. Items to be integrated and
supported by Nikon Instruments, Inc. must be purchased through Nikon to ensure proper
integration, safety standards, and performance to factory specifications. Obtaining these products
from an outside source with the intent to integrate with the Nikon system would result in a voided
factory warranty and could be in violation of being non-compliant to CDRH certification safety
standards.
This notice is not a request for competitive quotes. However, any available small businesses (e.g.,
8(a), service-disabled veteran owned small business, HUBZone small business, small
disadvantaged business, veteran-owned small business, and women-owned small business) as
stated herein may submit a written capability statement that clearly supports and demonstrates
their ability to perform the requirement. A determination by the Government to compete this
proposed award based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the
Government.
It is anticipated that an award will be issued approximately ten (10) days after the date of this notice
unless the Government determines that another vendor has the capability to meet this
requirement.
Please email responses to david.shen@nih.gov no later than 11:00 p.m. EDT on July 24, 2026.
