USDA ARS CARR AGRPRU request 7 cryogenic freezers to continue research.
1. Mission Need
The NLGRP maintains long-term cryogenic storage of critical genetic resources, including plant, animal, and microbial germplasm essential to USDA research, food security, and global agricultural preservation efforts. Reliable, liquid and vapor-phase cryogenic storage at -150 to –190°C using liquid nitrogen is required to ensure viability and long-term stability of irreplaceable plant and animal germplasm. Failure of storage equipment will result in irreversible loss of national genetic resources assets.
