General Maintenance pruning will include removing dead wood and may include removal of epicormic growth, lower branches, shoots growing from the base, and inferring limbs. Complete removal includes stump grinding and regrading soil for trees larger than 8 inches DBH. For smaller trees, the stumps should be treated to prevent regrowth. 2.0 Background The purpose of this project is to remove overgrown, dead, and hazardous branches from a variety of trees across the FPL campus. In addition, there are several injured or dead trees that will be completely removed. Dead branches pose a hazard to employees and create difficulties for mowing and groundskeeping. Overgrown branches and trees located near power lines and electrical transformers can create electrical or fire hazards, making removal essential for safety. The main species of trees at the FPL are Locust, Maple, Oak, Ash, and Pine. Contractor Requirements 3.0 Technical Requirements / Tasks The contractor must be qualified and licensed to perform the required services. Ma be required to provide a copy of license. Contractor will remove and dispose of all tree material. Contractor will provide barricades and site protection to secure the work area. Contractor will use caution when operating equipment on lawn areas. Do not tear up lawn with heavy equipment. Contractor must be registered at www.sam.gov before award acceptance. Pricing should be broken down by line item. Any recommended additional work, which is not in the scope, should be broken out from the main bid and estimated separately. Work will be performed during normal business hours, Monday-Friday. Dead trees and invasive overgrowth may be removed at any time during the contract period. Routine pruning of living trees shall be performed during the fall dormant season when trees are no longer actively growing, except where emergency pruning is required to address safety concerns. COMPLETION OF WORK Upon completion of this contract the contractor shall remove all equipment, tools, and debris from the project, and shall leave the premises clean, neat, and in good condition. 5.0 FIELD VERIFICATION A site visit will be required prior to submission of a cost estimate.
