WORK BY GOVERNMENT
PART 1 GENERAL
1.01 GENERAL
A. The Government shall perform customary tasks to assist the Contractor with gaining
access for the work. The Government makes no guarantee as to the condition of
completed tasks. Contractor shall accept the conditions “as-is” and improve conditions as
required to complete the work.
B. Prior to the start of work, Government will:
1. Drain and open unit waterway.
2. Install vane axial fans.
3. Install wire rope around runner blades’ leading edges.
4. Install wire rope around stay vanes’ leading edges.
5. Install string of lights around the periphery of the stay ring.
C. During installation of draft tube platform, Government will:
1. Maintain water level in draft tube waterway from 4 feet to 8 feet below the invert
of the draft tube access door:
a. This has been a customary practice for additional fall protection during
draft tube platform installation.
D. After installation of draft tube platform, Government will:
1. Install lighting around the periphery of the draft tube.
2. Drain the draft tube waterway.
E. Upon completion of the work, Government will:
1. Remove and store vane axial fans.
2. Remove and store wire rope around runner blades’ leading edges.
3. Remove and store wire rope around stay vanes’ leading edges.
4. Remove and store string of lights around the periphery of the stay ring.
5. Remove and store lighting around the periphery of the draft tube.
6. Close and fill waterway in preparation for the unit to return to service.

WORK RESTRICTIONS
PART 1 GENERAL
1.01 WORK RESTRICTIONS
A. Perform work during Government’s scheduled maintenance outages:
1. The Government makes no guarantee as to the number of units scheduled for
maintenance within a 12-month period:
a. Unit to be repaired will be issued at the Task Order Level.
b. For information only, this outage schedule is subject to change:
2. Turbines will be available for repair for a portion of the outage duration.
B. Allowable working hours:
1. Monday through Thursday, 6:00AM to 5:00PM.
C. Allowable delivery hours:
1. Monday through Thursday, 7:00AM to 3:00PM.
D. Schedule time for access by the Government to perform turbine runner and discharge ring
initial assessment and final inspection:
1. After draft tube platform installation: 7 days:
a. Includes all appurtenances for complete access to all work surfaces.
b. Submit written notification 7 days in advance of the start of scheduled
time for access in accordance with Section 01 31 19 – Project
Management and Coordination.
2. After completion of repair work and prior to removal of draft tube platform: 7
