Historic Savenac Repairs
The Historic Savenac on the Lolo National Forest, Superior Ranger District near Haugan, MT 59867.
General Information
1.0 Scope of Work
The intent of this project is to repair damage to the roof of the administrative building caused recent wind storm and
repair the rotting foundation of the East Cottage caused by moisture and poor drainage.
Contractor Requirements
2.0 Technical Requirements / Tasks
The work on the administrative building shall include repairing the damaged area shown on the plans. Work shall
include but is not limited to removing all damaged material, repairing damaged rafters, repairing and replacing damaged
sheathing, installing new underlayment material, and installing Government Furnishing metal shingles. All work shall
match the historic character of the building.
The work on the east cottage shall include but is not limited to removing and replacing rotten sill log, removing and
repairing concrete patio as necessary to complete sill log replacement, and repairing and replacing siding. Contractor is
responsible for the means and methods for achieving this work. Contractor is responsible for replacing incidental
material tear-off to match existing historic quality.
The precise details of performing the work are not stipulated, except as considered essential for the successful
completion of the work. Furnish all labor, material, equipment, tools, transportation, and supplies necessary to
complete the work according to the contract. All work shall be completed in accordance with the content of this scope
of work, specifications, and attached drawings.
The Contractor shall be responsible for verifying all measurements to determine necessary quantities and sizes of
materials to be furnished.
3.0 Government Furnished

4.0 Deliverables / Schedule
All written deliverables shall be phrased in layperson language. Statistical and other technical terminology shall not be
used without providing a glossary of terms.
It is the Contractor’s responsibility to submit all items prior to beginning work. The Contractor shall allow 10-days for
processing of submittals by the Government. Approvals must be obtained before starting work. Submittals are required
for the following:
• Roof sheathing
• Roof paper
• Sill Log lumber
• Concrete mix
• Wall vapor barrier
• Construction Sequence
• Construction Schedule

Price Range – Between $25,000 and $100,000
Pre-bid Tour – Pre bid tour will be scheduled during the biding period and will be scheduled by the CO.
Start Work - It is estimated that work will begin in July 2026.
Period of Performance – Contract to be completed in 90 calendar days from the notice to proceed and no later the
October 1 st
, 2026. Contractor may, upon approval of CO, opt to work over weekends. If contractor would like to
exercise this option, provide work schedule, and discuss with CO.
Disturbances – Contractor shall not block or inhibit access to this building or egress through hallways.
Staging Area – The Contractor shall coordinate with the CO on a staging area location. The Contractor shall operate
all equipment and store, transport, and handle materials in a manner that will not damage the existing roads, parking
lots, and landscaping.
Potable Water – The contractor may use the water on-site from location approved by the CO.
Wastewater Facilities –Wastewater facilities will be provided on site and designated by the CO.
Electrical – The Contractor may use on-site electrical service.
5.0 Cleanup and Disposal
The Contractor shall be responsible for solid waste disposal. The Contractor shall always keep the area in a clean, neat,
and orderly condition. Construction related debris, including but not limited to used motor oil, oil cans, grease
cartridges and refuse shall be removed promptly from the site and disposed of in a lawful manner off National Forest
System lands. Fees for the use of landfills or transfer stations shall be paid for by the Contractor if there is a charge.
6.0 Security Requirements
Security is the responsibility of the Contractor. The Contractor shall be responsible for protecting all equipment and
