STATEMENT OF WORK FOR
Gatan BioContinuum System and Gatan Alpine Vista Direct Electron
Detector
MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR
National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences
1. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES
The contractor shall provide all management, parts, tools, supplies, equipment, software support, and
labor necessary to maintain and repair the Gatan BioContinuum system and the Gatan Alpine Vista direct
electron detector, including supporting equipment, at the National Institute of Environmental Health
Sciences in a manner that ensures continuous, safe, and reliable operation in accordance with
manufacturer specifications. The contractor shall provide unlimited telephone technical support during
normal working hours, unlimited service calls, and one annual preventive maintenance visit for each
covered system during each period of performance.

1.1 MAINTENANCE SERVICES
The contractor shall use only factory-certified technicians to perform one annual preventive maintenance
visit for each covered system during each period of performance. The requirement is for a base period of
performance with no options, unless otherwise stated in the award document.
The contractor shall perform preventive maintenance, calibration, inspection, testing, and software
updates, if available, during the annual maintenance visit. The work shall include ordinary repairs and
adjustments arising from normal use and shall be performed in accordance with manufacturer
specifications. The maintenance shall be intended to confirm the performance, reliability, calibration, and
accuracy of the covered equipment.
The contractor shall prepare and submit a written report within two business days after each annual
preventive maintenance visit. The report shall identify the maintenance performed, parts used, date of
inspection, name of the technician, and overall condition of the equipment. The report shall also identify
any potential future items that may require replacement or additional servicing before the next scheduled
maintenance visit. No additional parts or services not covered under the resultant contract shall be
provided to the Government unless authorized by the Contracting Officer through contract modification.
1.2 REPAIR SERVICE CALLS
The contractor shall use only factory-certified technicians to perform an unlimited number of on-site
service calls under this agreement. Repair services shall include troubleshooting, diagnosis, repair,
replacement of failed covered parts, and restoration of the covered equipment to proper operating
condition in accordance with manufacturer specifications. For the BioContinuum system, this includes the
K3 direct electron detector and energy filter. For the Alpine Vista system, this includes the direct electron
detector and associated covered components.

The Authorized Government Representative or designated representative will notify the contractor of
equipment failure and needed repairs. The contractor shall provide unlimited telephone technical support
to attempt to resolve the problem remotely. If the problem cannot be resolved by telephone or remote
support, the contractor shall escalate to on-site support within 48 hours during normal business hours.
When on-site support begins, the contractor shall report to the work location, assess the repair, and
provide an estimated time to repair. All repair work shall be performed in accordance with normal
commercial practices using parts specified by the original manufacturer or items of equal or better quality
when acceptable under manufacturer requirements. Downtime shall be kept to an absolute minimum, and
the contractor shall notify the Government of projected downtime and estimated time for repair.
The contractor shall prepare and submit a written report within two business days after completion of
each routine repair. The report shall include the date and time of the service call, the repairs performed,
parts replaced, and the name of the technician performing the work. If repairs require work outside the
scope of the agreement, the contractor shall notify the Authorized Government Representative for
appropriate decision and action. Unless authorized by the Contracting Officer through contract
modification, no additional parts or services outside the scope of the resultant contract shall be provided
to the Government.
1.2.2 Emergency Calls
The contractor shall respond to emergency repair calls within 48 hours after notification during normal
business hours.
The contractor shall prepare and submit a written report within two business days after completion of
each emergency repair. The report shall include the date and time of the service call, repairs performed,
parts replaced, and the name of the technician performing the repairs. If repairs require work outside the
scope of the agreement, the contractor shall notify the Authorized Government Representative for
appropriate decision and action. Unless authorized by the Contracting Officer through contract
modification, no additional parts or services outside the scope of the resultant contract shall be provided
to the Government.
