STATEMENT OF WORK TITLE: HVACR Refrigeration Repairs onboard TSV4 Narragansett OBJECTIVE: HVACR Refrigeration Repairs onboard TSV4 Narragansett SHIP TO: (DODAAC/UIC 3993J) Carrier Strike Group FOUR (CSG4), Assistant Chief of Staff ATTN: PORT ENGINEER SCOPE OF WORK: Contracting for the procurement of marine refrigeration technical services for extensive repairs of TSV4 Narragansett’s installed HVAC/R system: Manufacturer: Carly Compressor Model: 5H40-149 Serial 4912U09946 Refrigerant: R410 Refrigerant Charge: >50lbs Power: 480 Phase: 3 Amps: <50A Labor to remove old parts/material, clean equipment for installation of new parts/material and installation of new parts/material: 1. Oil Sight Glass Service – Isolate and depressurize the compressor oil reservoir. Remove oil sight glass assembly, clean lens to restore optical clarity, replace O-ring with manufacturer-specified elastomer seal, and reinstall per OEM torque specifications. Verify no oil or refrigerant leakage after reinstallation. 2. System Component Flushing – Disconnect and remove filter housings, strainer housings, TXV housings, and compressor lower-end oil sump. Perform solvent cleaning using R-11 flush in accordance with manufacturer guidelines. Continue flushing until effluent is free of particulate and acid residue. Dry with nitrogen purge before reinstallation. 3. Oil Renewal and Filtration Upgrade – Drain and dispose of existing compressor oil per EPA refrigerant and oil disposal standards. Charge each compressor with fresh OEM-approved POE oil. Install an in-line oil filter kit on each compressor discharge line, complete with isolation valves and service ports to facilitate future maintenance and oil analysis. 4. System Pressure Test and Leak Detection – Pressurize system with dry nitrogen to 150% of maximum operating pressure. Perform leak detection using electronic and bubble solution methods. Repair minor leaks on site; document and submit a formal quotation for major leak repairs requiring additional downtime or materials. 5. Oil Pressure Switch Optimization – Remove redundant oil pressure switch on each compressor. Function-test the remaining oil pressure switch for correct operation and confirm proper signal interface with the EOS alarm panel per control logic requirements. 6. Crankcase Heater Restoration – Reconnect upper compressor crankcase (oil sump) heater per wiring schematic. Energize heater and verify amperage draw within OEM specifications. Monitor crankcase oil temperature to ensure prevention of refrigerant migration during off cycles. -- 1 of 2 -- 7. Main Power Switch Replacement – Remove and replace defective main unit power disconnect switches with equivalent or upgraded assemblies. Verify mechanical integrity, electrical continuity, and proper lockout/tagout functionality. 8. Electrical Cabinet Grooming – Inspect all electrical wiring for insulation integrity. Replace or re- terminate damaged conductors. Secure loose wiring, verify lug torque per standards, clean interior of cabinet, and confirm proper labeling of all circuits. 9. Filter Element Replacement – Remove and replace suction and liquid line filter/dryer elements. Ensure correct filter core selection for R-134A compatibility and acid/moisture removal capability. 10. Evaporator Coil Cleaning – Perform evaporator coil cleaning using a non-acidic coil cleaner and low-pressure rinse to remove biological fouling and debris. Ensure complete condensate drainage and restore unrestricted airflow across coil fins. 11. Suction Pressure Switch Replacement – Remove defective suction pressure control switch (HP/LP combination). Install new OEM-calibrated switch, leak test, and verify cut-in/cut-out settings per system design parameters. 12. Oil Trap Installation – Fabricate and install oil traps in all evaporator suction return lines.
