What this opportunity is
NASA is seeking to procure a Rockland Piston Cylinder System, which includes a high-pressure pressure vessel, stack components, a temperature controller, and a pressure holding system. This opportunity is set aside for 8(a) small businesses, making it suitable for eligible firms looking to expand their federal contracting portfolio. Interested vendors should note that this is a solicitation notice, indicating the need to prepare a bid in response to the requirements outlined in the statement of work.

1) Eurotherm EPC3004 Programmable Controller.
2) Control Concepts Phase Angle Firing SCR pack.
3) 12 volt - 5 KVA Transformer.
4) Meter for primary voltage.
5) Illuminated on/off switch.
All components except transformer mounted in an
enameled steel enclosure, approximately 24” H x
20”W x 8”D, with hinged front panel for easy access.
Unit is completely assembled, wired, and tested.
Safety and convenience features include :

-- 1 of 3 --
1) Power failure lamp indicates there was an
interruption of power during experimental run and that
the experiment was terminated even though the power
came back on.
2) Fast-Acting semi-conductor fuses prevent damage
to SCR pack.
3) Upper limit alarm shuts off power on temperature
over-run; run is terminated (latching relay prevents
controller from switching power back on as
temperature drops).
4) Panel mounted light indicates whether temperature
fluctuation, e.g. ± 5 degrees C, has occurred at any
time during experimental run.
4 PHS Data Pressure holding system, with data
The PHS consists of a small volume high pressure
syringe pump, driven by a 90V DC motor
with gear reduction, driving a second, right-angle gear
reducer. All mechanical and hydraulic components are
mounted on an aluminum channel 8" wide x 44" long;
this may be wall-mounted or placed on the floor
behind the press. Mounting feet are provided.
The PHS is intended to keep your piston cylinder main
ram pressure constant after it is increased via manual
control. The pump maintains constant pressure during
room temperature variations in the lab, and it also
holds pressure during quenching at the end of your
experiment.
The electrical controls are built into the temperature
control panel; data acquisition software with Enet
connection is included in the panel as well.
