Description

STATEMENT OF WORK 1. Objective/Requirements NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC) requires the procurement of a Rockland Piston Cylinder System. 2. Characteristics, Scope, and Specs LINE PART NO. DESCRIPTION QTY. 1 PV-7 1/2"- 35 kbar pressure vessel Dimensions: OD approximately 7”, ID 0.5015”, Thickness 2.000”; Weight 23 lbs Core: micron grain Carpenter powder metal tool steel; Shim: hardened and ground tool steel; Support Rings: forged alloy steel, hardened and ground; Safety Ring: ductile stainless steel seamless tubing machined for proper interference fit; (2) Machined Bronze Lifting Handles; Thermocouple mounted on outside diameter – ties in to temperature controller 2 2 PCSTK Stack components Bridge: 7” diameter alloy steel; (1) hardened and ground piston location/endload insert; Top Plate: 7” alloy steel with tool steel insert; Thermocouple Spacer: alloy steel, hardened and ground, slotted: Endload Spacer: alloy steel, hardened and ground with tapped hole for cable attachment; (4) quick release coolant fittings for top plate and bridge; (2) 1/2” tungsten carbide pistons; (1) 1” tungsten carbide push piece (1) 1/2” tool steel main ram spacer with dowel pins for location 1 3 SVTC Temperature Controller Includes the following: 1) Eurotherm EPC3004 Programmable Controller. 2) Control Concepts Phase Angle Firing SCR pack. 3) 12 volt - 5 KVA Transformer. 4) Meter for primary voltage. 5) Illuminated on/off switch. All components except transformer mounted in an enameled steel enclosure, approximately 24” H x 20”W x 8”D, with hinged front panel for easy access. Unit is completely assembled, wired, and tested. Safety and convenience features include : 1 -- 1 of 3 -- 1) Power failure lamp indicates there was an interruption of power during experimental run and that the experiment was terminated even though the power came back on. 2) Fast-Acting semi-conductor fuses prevent damage to SCR pack. 3) Upper limit alarm shuts off power on temperature over-run; run is terminated (latching relay prevents controller from switching power back on as temperature drops). 4) Panel mounted light indicates whether temperature fluctuation, e.g. ± 5 degrees C, has occurred at any time during experimental run. 4 PHS Data Pressure holding system, with data The PHS consists of a small volume high pressure syringe pump, driven by a 90V DC motor with gear reduction, driving a second, right-angle gear reducer. All mechanical and hydraulic components are mounted on an aluminum channel 8" wide x 44" long; this may be wall-mounted or placed on the floor behind the press. Mounting feet are provided. The PHS is intended to keep your piston cylinder main ram pressure constant after it is increased via manual control. The pump maintains constant pressure during room temperature variations in the lab, and it also holds pressure during quenching at the end of your experiment. The electrical controls are built into the temperature control panel; data acquisition software with Enet connection is included in the panel as well. 1 5 150T 150 ton hydraulic press with Shields and Base: Type: 4-post single-acting down-moving; solid steel construction Capacity: 150 tons Endload cylinder: 150 ton single-acting with return spring and chrome plated piston Main Ram: 100 ton single acting, with return spring and chrome plated piston, with Nickel plated steel mounting plate; Column diameter: approximately 3”, alloy steel Weight: approximately 1400 lbs with stack and safety shields Height: 56”; Width: 24”; Depth: 24”; Base 24” x 24” “Daylight” between frame top and bottom plates: 23”; between posts: 10-1/4” between hydraulic cylinders: 12-1/2” 1 -- 2 of 3 -- Welded steel gauge panel with (2) Stewarts 10 KSI gauges, 4” diameter (2) Autoclave stainless steel shutoff valves; high pressure stainless steel tubing and fittings as required. 6 RR10T 10 ton hydraulic press 1 7 ENPKG Enerpac pump w/accessories Enerpac 10,000 PSI electric/hydraulic pump with two way valve. Jog switch mounted on 10’ cord. (2) 6’ hoses, 4” diameter/10 KSI gauge, additional shut off valve. Valves, hoses and fittings as required to accommodate 150T press and 10T press 1 3. Place of Performance NASA Johnson Space Center ATTN: Francis McCubbin/Bella Liang, Building 31 Annex, Room 180 2101 NASA Parkway Houston TX 77058-3696 4. Period of Performance 18 to 22 weeks ARO. -- 3 of 3 --
