Troubleshoot and repair of CBL outdrive for CGC Juniper

STATEMENT OF WORK OUTDRIVE INPUT SHAFT TROUBLESHOOTING WITH OUTDRIVE REPLACEMENT Scope of Work: Troubleshoot and correct inadequate shaft and coupler connection. Replace outdrive with Government Furnished Equipment. Reports to: CWO3 Robert Ozment, Engineer Officer 808-398-0808 Discrepancy Summary: During underway operations, the vessel lost propulsion. Propulsion checks were conducted and system was intact. Once trailered, ships force conducted another set of propulsion checks with negative results. During checks, there was an unusual noise coming from the transom area. Further observation found that the outdrive input shaft is not fully seated into the engine coupler. During engine operation and in neutral, the engine coupler is spinning however, the outdrive input shaft is static. When the handle is engaged in the ahead position, the engine coupler remains spinning while the outdrive input shaft remains static. Job Summary: De-energize all electrical circuits feeding ECM/Starting circuit before and during all repair work. Investigate, troubleshoot, and determine the cause for the outdrive input shaft not fully engaging the engine coupler. Comply with MPC A45025.0 for removal/ reinstallation of outdrive to facilitate the troubleshooting process. Conduct inspection of disassembled outdrive; if any discrepancies are noted or repairs are required, make a report to POC. Cutter approval will be required prior to moving forward with any repair. Replace outdrive with Government furnished outdrive, and all other parts, if required, shall be provided by the contractor, i.e. gimbal bearing, bellows. Weather proofing/sealing from saltwater/air & UV exposure all connections and use rated connectors, if applicable. Re-attach linkages and reinstall outdrive IAW MPC A45025.0 Restore all electrical power and verify all systems are operating properly. Contractor shall execute the contract IAW this Scope of Work. The contractor is not authorized to deviate from this Scope of Work without written authorization from the Contracting Officer. Summary of Essential Job Functions: Investigation and correction of insufficient shaft to coupler contact will allow for the proper operation of the engine and running gear. Installation of a new outdrive will prevent future failures due to worn parts.
