1. SCOPE
1.1 Intent.. This work item desc1ibes the requirements for the Contractor to replace windows, as
designated in Table 1.

3. REQUIREMENTS
3.1 General. The intent of this work item is to replace windows, as indicated on Table 1.
3.1.1 CIR. The Contractor must submit a CIR for the inspections listed in the following paragraph(s):
None.
3.1.2 Tech Rep.
None.
3.1.3 Protective measures. The Contractor must furnish and install all protective measures in accordance
with SFLC Std Spec 0000, paragraph 3.3.3 (Vessel component, space, and equipment protection).
3.1.4 Interferences. The Contractor must handle all interferences in accordance with SFLC Std Spec 0000,
paragraph 3.3.5 (Interferences). Known interferences include, but are not limited to the following:
• Insulation
• Electrical Cables

• Window Wipers
3.2 Window Replacement. The Contractor must accomplish the following tasks to replace the windows as
designated in Table 1. See Coast Guard Drawing 160-WLIC-1107-002 for guidance and details.
3.2.1 Electrical Disconnections. The Contractor must disconnect and coil back electrical cables from
wiper assemblies of windows designated in Table 1, in accordance with SFLC Std Spec 3042. Record
wiring information for later re-connection.
3.2.2 Window Removal. Remove and discard window pannels. Remove and scrap all seals and fasteners.
3.2.3 Prepare all disturbed areas around the window opening in accordance with SSPC-SP 3. Feather the
surrounding surfaces to obtain a 3-inch wide smoothly tapered boundary from the existing paint to the
prepared surface.
3.2.4 In the presence of the Coast Guard Inspector, inspect the framing and plating around each opening
for corrosion and deterioration. Submit a CFR if additional repairs are required.
3.2.5 Window installation. Install new windows in place of the one removed.
3.2.6 The Contractor must re-connect previously removed cables to window wiper assemblies.
Operationally test each affected window wiper assembly in accordance with SFLC Std Spec 3041.
Submit a CFR.
3.3 Boundary test, generic. The Contractor must verify the integrity of all boundaries affected by this
work item using one of the methods described in SFLC Std Spec 0740, Appendix C. Submit a CFR.
3.4 Touch-up preservation. The Contractor must prepare and coat all new and disturbed surfaces to match
existing adjacent surfaces in accordance with SFLC Std Spec 6310, paragraph 3.1.13 (Touch-ups and
minor coating repairs.)
3.5 Gas freeing. When entering a tank, compartment, confined space, or conducting hot work, refer to
and comply with SFLC Std Spec 0000, General Requirements.
3.6 Welding and brazing. Perform all welding, brazing, and non-destructive testing (NDT) in
accordance with SFLC Std Spec 0740, Welding and Allied Processes.
3.7 Electrical work. The Contractor must accomplish all electrical work in accordance with SFLC Std
Spec 3042, and test cables in accorda…
