Refer to section 01 35 26, SAFETY REQUIREMENTS for safety and infection control requirements. 1.2 GENERAL INTENTION A. Contractor shall completely prepare site for building operations, including demolition and removal of existing structures, and furnish labor and materials and perform work for replacement of flooring, roofing, interior finishes and improvements to the HVAC for the campus corridors at the Togus VA Medical Center _________________________ _______________________________________________________________ as required by drawings and specifications. B. Visits to the site by Bidders may be made only by appointment with the Medical Center Engineering Officer.. C. Offices of ___Above Group, Inc. ______________________________________________________, as Architect-Engineers, will render certain technical services during construction. Such services shall be considered as advisory to the Government and shall not be construed as expressing or implying a contractual act of the Government without affirmations by Contracting Officer or his duly authorized representative. D. General Contractor responsible for developing construction phasing plans and Interim Life Safety Plans in accordance with VA requirements. All plans must be approved by the COR prior to construction commencing. General Contractor to ensure at least 2 means of egress from each building during construction. E. Before placement and installation of work subject to tests by testing laboratory retained by Department of Veterans Affairs, the Contractor shall notify the COR in sufficient time to enable testing laboratory personnel to be present at the site in time for proper taking and testing of specimens and field inspection. Such prior notice shall be not less than three workdays unless otherwise designated by the COR. F. All employees of general contractor and subcontractors shall comply with VA security management program and obtain permission of the VA police, be identified by project and employer, and restricted from unauthorized access. 1.3 STATEMENT OF BID ITEM(S) A. ITEM I, GENERAL CONSTRUCTION: BASE BID Work includes general construction, alterations, necessary removal of existing structures and construction and certain other items. B. ALTERNATE NO.1: BASE BID except delete__roof replacement from scope______________________________ C. ALTERNATE NO.2: BASE BID except delete __replacement of radiators from scope. Contractor responsible for removing the radiator for replacement of finishes and reinstall existing radiator. Contractor responsible for ensuring prior to removal that the radiator is operational and upon reinstallion the radiator to function as it did prior to removal.
