The 5-axis CNC milling machine must meet the minimum specifications listed in the technical requirements. This machine will be used at ARC in the Machining and Instrumentation Branch (Code RMX) to support various projects and programs for the Agency. The primary use of this equipment will be to produce complex metallic and nonmetallic components and hardware for spaceflight projects, Space Launch System (SLS), Artemis program, Orion capsule, BioSentinel, Dragonfly, Dragonfly Entry Aerosciences Measurements (DrEAM), HyperSTEP, MERINO, wind tunnel models, aircraft hardware, and complex 3D surfacing models for testing and flight. 3.0 Technical Requirements Machine Construction: The machine shall be designed as a 5-axis vertical machining center with a RAM structure and trunnion table design. Travels: Minimum X=889mm (35.00”), Y=762mm (30.00”), Z=635mm (25.00”), A-Axis -120 to +20 deg., C Axis 360 deg. Workpiece diameter: “Maximum workpiece diameter” to be minimum of 736mm (29.00in) diameter Accuracy: Minimum +/-0.0063mm (0.00025in.) linear (XYZ), +/- 3 arcseconds rotary (AC) Repeatability: Minimum +/-0.002mm (0.000078in.) linear (YXZ), +/- 3 arcseconds rotary (AC) Table load: Minimum 500 kg/1100 lbs.
