STATEMENT OF WORK
1. SCOPE
1.1. Title: Statement of Work for the repair of the AC Motor identified in section 1.3.
1.2. Location of Work: Work to be performed at Contractor’s facility.
1.3. Identification: A.C. MOTOR, 3 speed, 200/25/3.1 HP, 440V, 3 phase, 60HZ, Frame size
586 WVY, insulation class F, Nameplate AMP rating 247/40/14, Squirrel cage rotor,
vertically mounted, continuous duty, manufactured by General Dynamics, Electro
Dynamics Division.

3. REQUIREMENTS
CAUTION - NOISE QUIET EQUIPMENT:
Ensure AC Motor assembly is transported/moved on a shock mounted skid that the
government will provide, when assembled. Component parts may be transported throughout
the repair facility during the repair process without a shock-mounted platform but must be
handled with extreme care.
WARNING:
COLLECTION/RECORDING OF VIBRATION DATA BY CONTRACTOR DURING
OPERATIONAL TESTING IS EXPLICITLY FORBIDDEN.
NOTE:
Appendix A is provided to capture electrical, mechanical and visual inspections.
Appendix B is provided to assist with Insulation Resistance correction, Winding
Resistance correction and torque specs.
3.1.1. The contractor shall perform an as-arrived visual inspection, as-arrived electrical
tests and mechanical checks of the AC Motor assembly in accordance with
references 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3. The contractor shall record this data on Tables 1 through
3 in Appendix A. The contractor shall report these results to PNSDETSD Code
270, via email:

3.1.2. The contractor shall then disassemble the AC Motor guided by references 2.1 and
2.3. The contractor shall clean all component parts and clean and dry the stator
windings in accordance with references 2.1 and 2.3. The contractor shall perform
visual inspections and electrical testing of the stator windings in accordance with
References 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3. The contractor shall record this data on Tables 4
through 8 in Appendix A. The contractor shall report these results to PNSDETSD
Code 270, via email:
NOTE: Prior to determining whether rewind/replacement is required, the
stator may be cleaned and dried 2 additional times and insulation resistance re-
measured.
3.1.3. The contractor shall stop work and Notify PNSDETSD TPOC immediately shall
the Stator winding, Insulation Resistance fails after the 3rd attempt at Cleaning &
Drying.
3.1.4. The contractor shall allow PNSDET Code 270 to visually evaluate the winding
insulation after Cleaning & Drying (at the contractor’s facility) to determine
whether varnish treatment is warranted. If 270 authorizes Varnish Dip by checking
“YES” in Table 8, The contractor shall proceed to Requirement 3.1.5. If PNSDET
Code 270 checks “NO” for Varnish Dip in Table 8, The contractor shall proceed to
Requirement 3.1.6.
3.1.5. The contractor shall Varnish Dip & Bake Stator Windings (If authorized in Table
8), using References (a), (b) & (c) as a guide. The contractor shall perform After
Varnish Dip & Bake Electrical tests, visual inspection and record data on Tables 9
through 13 of Appendix A.
3.1.6. The contractor shall Re-assemble motor using References (a) & (c) as a guide and
perform After Re-assembly Electrical and Mechanical checks. The contractor shall
record this data in Tables 14 through 17 of Appendix A and table 21 in Appendix B.
3.1.7. The contractor shall perform an operational (No Load) test of the re-assembled
motor and allow PNSDET Code 270 to obtain vibration data during the test (at the
contractor’s facility). The contractor shall record this data in Tables 18 through 20
in Appendix A.
4. RESPONSIBILITITES
4.1. The Government will remove the AC motor and ship to the contractor’s facility.
4.2. The Contractor shall perform all work and obey Notes, Cautions and Warnings as
described in Section 3 Requirements.
4.3. The Government will provide the contractor, engineering evaluations and vibration data
collection as described in Section 3 Requirements.
4.4. The Government will provide any or all applicable references from Section 2 References.
4.5. The Government will ship the AC Motor assembly to Naval Base Point Loma.

5. DELIVERY / RETURN
5.1. The Government will transport the motor to and from the contractor’s facility at the
governments expense.
5.2. The Contractor is responsible for Loading and Unloading the motor to and from the
Government owned truck at the Contractor’s facility.
6. General
6.1. Contractor shall provide all completed Tables in Appendix A & B to PNSDETSD TPOC
within two business days once work is completed. TPOC EMAIL:
