STATEMENT OF WORK
PROJECT SCOPE
SCOPE OF CONTRACT
A. Base Items:
a. This project is for the development of well and hand pump to serve the Kading
Campground in the Helena Ranger District of the Helena-Lewis and Clark
National Forest.
b. Work includes drilling a well and installing a complete hand pump assembly on
new well casing, concrete pad, drain, and all pump components necessary for a
typical campground water supply.
c. Contractor is responsible for all labor, materials, tools, etc. necessary to complete
the work. All waste and excess materials generated from construction shall be
disposed of off Forest Service lands and in compliance with governing federal,
state, and local laws.

1.3 SITE VISIT:
A. No official Site Visit shall be performed. Per FAR Part 52.236-3 “Site Investigation and
Conditions Affecting the Work”, contractor is encouraged and expected to visit the site.
Ensure you are familiar with inclement weather as this may hinder access to certain
roads.
1.4 PRICE RANGE:
A. Between $25,000 and $100,000.

2.1 SECTION 22 00 00 – KADING CAMPGROUND, NEW WELL
PART 1 – GENERAL
SUMMARY
A. Project Summary Description: The project includes but is not limited to the following
major items of work as shown on the plans and specifications. The following
descriptions are provided as an outline of major work items and shall not be construed as
all-inclusive or a complete listing of all items of Work under this Contract.
a. Installation of a new water supply well, at the location as shown in the drawings,
and as staked in the field by the Contracting Officer.
b. Installation of standard Forest Service hand pump.
PRODUCTS
A. HAND PUMP
a. Install the Forest Service standard Monitor Manufacturing 1DFHFS hand pump
with standpipe and foot valve.

EXECUTION
A. BORING SPOILS AND WATER DISPLACEMENT
a. Boring spoils and water displacement to be distributed on site such that they blend
into existing landscape.
DEPTH
a. Drill new well to a depth of up to 100 feet or 5 gallons per minute, whichever
comes first.
i. Minimum depth of 50 feet.
b. Final well depth shall be approved by CO.
c. Grout Seal steel casing to a minimum of 27 feet below ground level.

3.1 DISINFECTING WELLS
A. After the well is cleaned it shall be disinfected with a chlorine solution of such
volume and strength so that a concentration of at least 100 ppm of chlorine, after
mixing with the water in the well, shall be circulated to all parts of the well. The
water in the well must be agitated to mix the solution thoroughly. In addition, the
surfaces of all components above the water level must be flushed or washed down
with the sterilizing solution. The chlorine solution shall remain undisturbed in the
well for a period of at least 12 hours, but not more than 24 hours.
3.2 WELL LOG REPORT
A. Contractor shall submit a well log report to the Ground Water Information Center
(GWIC) within 60 days of well development. Provide copy of well log report to the
COR.
